We have a new Assistant Coach- Kris Mayotte from Providence College. https://mgoblue.com/news/2019/8/16/i...ant-coach.aspx
And he's a former goaltender. So I wonder what Steve Shields' role will be, if he stays. Or will they both cover it?
So the season is coming up, as since Mgoblue has posted the incoming roster, it's probably time to start a new thread.
Here's the incoming team- https://mgoblue.com/news/2019/8/9/ic...20-season.aspx
Oddly- three are transfers. One RPI as what looks to be his third season; one from RPI who is a graduate transfer; and one from BU who is a graduate transfer.
Outside of Mel's first season, he's really shaken things up year after year. So will this be the core he can build from for the future?

Not sure how many here are still Dekers members- but got a note yesterday about the season events, and it all kicks off with an open practice followed by lunch with the team! Not quite the same as the picnic, but at least we get to meet some of the players!
Very happy to see a pre-season meet and greet with the players is on tap once again. I was told that the players asked for it. No confirmation from any of them but it is nice to think that they missed us. See you there, Alpha!
The certainties of life...Death, Taxes and bad B1G Referees.
Yeah, I'm still here.
I got that same email 2 weeks ago. Still trying to decide if I'm going. Only a week and half to go.
There is also the Jan. 4 mid season "State of the Team" brunch.
Don't know if you caught this one or not but it seems like now they are automatically making all season ticket holders "Dekers" members since 2 or 3 years ago.
It's hard to believe this season makes 28 for me!

Michigan Daily: Michigan not overreacting to disappointing season
Mayotte was brought in to run the penalty kill and is the first full-time goaltenders’ coach at Michigan in Pearson's memory. With Mayotte’s hiring, associate head coach Bill Muckalt moves from running the penalty kill to running the power play. Volunteer assistant Steve Shields, previously the Wolverines’ only goaltender coach, is now part of coaching team with Mayotte.

The parasite was surgically removed and is currently a happy, healthy, little girl, that continues to suck life force from me.
We took her to the football game last week and survived (although, we didn't get to watch much football). She will definitely go to some games at Yost. The problem is, Michigan Athletics wants to make all the monies, so we'd need a ticket for her. Not a problem for any games my buddy's wife doesn't go to/want to go to. We will miss some games or find a sitter for the likely to be sold out games (which probably means OSU games).
Also, yes, too loud. Not just for a baby. Too loud. I wore earplugs to the games at Yost last year. We have headphones for baby wT.

That was fun! Nice to see a practice with Mel commenting, and we enjoyed talking with the players after.
Makes for a more fun start to the season.
I was about to say the same thing except for I could not understand ANYTHING Mel said with the echoes in the empty arena. The drills were interesting. I sat with Eric Ciccolini for lunch. Had a nice conversation with him. He has been a friend of Mike Cammalleri for many years. He has been on campus taking summer classes so he knows the basics of getting around town. It would be real nice to see this continued every season.
Two more things - did I miss it? Has anyone seen any announcement on captains for this season? I DID see a plaque in the trophy cases in the lobby that listed the captain for each year. It had Will Lockwood for 2019-20. Will he be the only one with a "C" on his sweater? Who will have the "A"s?
Also, my tickets arrived in today's mail. I'll be sitting in the same spot I have been for this season making 28 years. On the glass at the blueline across from the Wolverines bench.

Okay I did some deep digging on th MGoBlue website and found this from back in April when most of us were trying to forget last season. Lockwood will wear the "C". Slaker, Martin and Luce will all wear the "A".

Got my tickets in the mail this week, then I got the Frozen Four e-mail yesterday. I'm looking forward to much better sightlines than the last time the Frozen Four was in Detroit.
We finally have the Hockey and Basketball schedules available including most starting times. I just finished a side by side comparison for conflicts that would eliminate the option of parking in the Crisler lot. There are 3 games on Saturdays where both teams are playing at home. Luckily for hockey fans two of those three games the basketball starts at noon so they will not be a problem. The only complication comes on Dec. 6 with our hockey team hosting Penn State. The time is listed as TBA but you can bet it will be an evening game. That same day the basketball team hosts Iowa starting at 6:30.
