Generations of the Miata are referred to by the designation NX (which actually appears in the VIN as well.) NA = 1st generation, NB = 2nd generation, etc.

    Currently rocking an ND.

      And NA/First gen Miata 89-97, NB/Second gen- 99-05, NC/Third Gen- 06-15, and ND/fourth gen 16-now.

It's one of those cars that even a 30 old version of is still a fun car to have and use all the time.

Today was a great day to be a car guy. I'm in Bologna, Italy on vacation and what happens, tonight is the end of stage three of the 2019 Mille Miglia. They close the main streets in downtown Bologna, all the cars get a police escort into town and tens of thousands of fans line the streets to watch them come in and there is a parade afterwards. What an experience!

Daughter and bf visiting a few days and driving a rented Tesla Model 3. Funny how being all electric brings changes you don't anticipate. It has a smooth but definitely minimalist look. Front looks different with no grill. Inside has nice lines but nothing on the dash except the screen. No buttons, vents, dials. Nothing. Self driving seemed to work well, including stopping at lights in traffic. It doesn't coast, though. Take your foot off the accelerator and it's almost like putting it on a break. They had no problem finding charging stations here in rural Wisconsin. They laughed about driving through an Amish community and a young, non-Amish guy looking at the car and flashing them the peace sign.

Yeah, it’s like programmers have never heard of the concept of coasting. It’s either gun it or or slam on the breaks.

Acura does the same thing. It’s a useless feature unless you’re driving through middle America. Any amount of traffic makes adaptive cruise almost useless. And infuriating.

It does this on purpose - it converts excess friction energy from braking back into the battery. Believe coasting can be messed with in the settings - you can also add in creeping forward at idle (it's not on by default IIRC.)

If it were 3 years ago (heyday of the Model S) or 3 years in the future (by then the build quality issues on the 3 should hopefully be worked out) I'd consider a Tesla. As it stands currently, can't do it. Only one Supercharger currently in Denver and it's way out by the airport, and I'd have to run 240V to get a decent charge at home.

Charging the battery while slowing down, regenerative braking.

Even still, it still should be calibrated to run like a normal car. Increase the regen when the brakes are applied.

Headed to Cars and Coffee this weekend. I'll try not to get eaten by a Mustang.

Last one I went to had a couple $400K McLarens on display.

Welp, just bought my first ever new car last weekend at age forty-mumble - a stylin' 2020 Toyota Sienna XLE with all the bells & whistles. Amazing how much the technology has changed just in the last 5 years. It's hard to imagine what else we might "need" in a car between now and fully self-driving cars, but I'm sure they will keep dreaming up new things to tack on.

In what may be just a coincidence, baby #2 is due today (nothing yet)....
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

Took me a couple weeks to figure out everything in my 2015 Camaro compared to my 1999 Wrangler.

Also, when the hockey group I'm in visits the UP next weekend, there is a car "show" in Copper Harbor. It's awesome. They zoom out of town, caravan style, then roll back in town and park on Main St (or whatever it's called) for the folks to look at. Lots of really nice vehicles.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.
