From a Poster on the fyc board..... Dillion was ran into in the second period, and had to leave after he suffered what appeared to be a concussion...... From the Storm site....Alec Dillon started the game between the pipes for the Storm, but was forced to leave midway through the second period due to injury. Jared Rutledge shut the door in relief, preserving the early Tri-City lead. Both netminders finished the game with 13 saves.
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

I was afraid something like that happened. It must have been Nick Rivera.

Article about yesterday's Tri-City game which has a lot about AC's injury http://www.kearneyhub.com/sports/loc...0cb1c3dad.html and includes the world's worst video.

Dillon injured in Tri-City rout of Omaha

By CONNOR O’GARA Hub Sports Writer

KEARNEY — Friday night had all the makings of a perfect bounce-back game for the Storm.

Tri-City scored three times as many goals in the first period than it did in the previous six periods combined. Even better, Chris Wilkie and Nick Master converted the first two Storm power plays — against the top-ranked power play kill — after the league’s best unit had been held without a special teams score in the previous three games.

Then Alec Dillon went down. And with it, the air out of the sellout Viaero Event Center crowd in the midst of a 5-1 Tri-City victory.

The Storm netminder was bowled over on an Omaha rush and lay on his back for several minutes. Following the collision, he gingerly skated off the ice and walked to the locker room under his own power.

“He’s got a pretty good head ache,” Storm coach Jim Hulton said. “He hit his head double-whammy. I think he hit his head on the post then hit the ice on the way down. Immediate concern with a concussion, we won’t know really until the morning. He wasn’t doing real good when he came off. I just talked to him now and he’s doing a little better but we’ll wait and see.”

Day-to-day or week-to-week, it was not the site second-place Tri-City wanted to see coming into the final trimester of the regular season.

“Any time a starter goes down, it’s not a good thing,” Hulton said of Dillon, who is second among USHL goaltenders in goals against average. “But this is part of the reason we went out and got (Jared) Rudtledge, not necessarily for an injury. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that it’s not prolonged because we’ve got a busy stretch here.”

Rutledge did exactly what was expected of him and didn’t let Dillon’s injury turn into a momentum-shifter. He saved all 13 shots he saw on net from the Lancers and prevented any Dillon-less collapse.

“It’s huge,” Master said of Rutledge. “We have a lot of faith in him. He came in cold and played great. We really respect him for that.”

He had a cushion because Master and the Storm offense were rolling early. A three-goal first period resembled the offensive run Tri-City was on during its 10-game winning streak.

Master capitalized on the second power play of the night and again early in the second period. Bobby Nardella assisted on all three of the Storm’s first period goals, including Wilkie’s power-play score just eight seconds into the first man-advantage.

“His pucks have eyes that other guys’ don’t,” Hulton said of Wilkie, who leads the USHL in power play goals (12). “Tonight was a perfect example of that.”

Tri-City had more than enough offense to close the door on Omaha.

There was initial concern about Dillon among Tri-City skaters during the second intermission. But once they saw the injury wasn’t too serious, Hulton said, they got back to playing hockey.

“I feel like it actually sparked our team,” Master said. “We don’t get along too well with Omaha. That just sparked the fire and after that we played really well.”

Tri-City will shift its energy to another one of the Western Conference’s best. The Storm will make the quick trip to take on first-place Sioux City, which kept its four-point cushion on Tri-City for the conference’s top spot.

It’s still February. But the Storm want to treat the showdown as a playoff barometer.

“It definitely gets everyone on edge,” Master said. “I’d much rather play (Sioux City) when they’re at their best just as a test to see who’s the better team in the division. It’s going to be a really good test and we’re really excited about it.”

He made it at 4:28 of the first period. http://ojhl_site.stats.pointstreak.c...gameid=2473734

He now needs two to tie and three to set the record for most goals in Trenton history. http://www.network54.com/Forum/24352...+in+four+games...

Edit: I should have checked before posting.

Edit2: He may get the Trenton record today as he got a second goal in the first period.

On Sunday, the Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Pickering Panthers 9-1. Brady Wiffen had two goals and two assists. http://ojhlsite.stats.pointstreak.co...gameid=2473734

                                Wiffen's line is now 50-51-37-88-66.

Edit: BW was named #1 Star.
Edit2: It's good to see whoever awards the Stars in Pickering being honest as opposed to awarding them to a team that lost 9-1. BTW, I notice that Pickering's coach is Paul Coffey.
