Agreed completely. The Chimperor was the closest I ever want to get. A one-term Libertarian president would be useful since he'd allow the hamstringing of the Executive. It would also be wicked funny to see Congress have to finally govern again, rather than leaning on the EOP as a crutch while simultaneously denouncing "overreach." Everybody's a villain here (the righty SCOTUS' 180 on the unitary executive is going to be a particularly huge portion of crow), but the worst are the craven legislators (of both parties) who cover their butts by always passing the buck up Pennsylvania Ave.

Good to see all of those concerned liberals backed up their principles with their vote. Oh wait....

Any time either party mentions "their principles" I reminded of the great quote by Groucho: "Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others." Hypocrisy or Principles, to assume one party has an advantage over the other is the definition of gullibility

An awesome line. Another Groucho quote: "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies."

Not from this poster. An EO on a Turkey Day proclamation is fine. An EO saying that I think the law says this and that is the way it is is bad.

I agree with your earlier post. Congress needs to act as one of the equal tripods of this Republic. They've been buck passing for way too long.

You realize the Code of Federal Regulations is essentially a bunch of executive orders made by agencies saying this is how we interpret the law, right? They just come from agencies instead of the president. And they get used just as often in court as the U.S. code itself.

But the Regs that I was involved with that eventually got published in the Federal Register (oh! is that a laborious process!) were to implement existing legislation, not change it.

Some Agency may have broken new ground and pulled something out of deep left field, but not my Agency.

One person's change is another's mere implementation. See, for example, the current Obamacare case pending before SCOTUS.

When the EEOC decided that sexual orientation could be covered under current law as discrimination based on sex (specifically, bias based on not conforming to gender stereotypes), was that changing the law or merely a change in interpretation?

So, the consequence of the GOP argle-bargle on Benghazi is a Republican House investigatory report that exonerates the White House, and the consequence of the GOP argle-bargle on ISIS is the resignation of the sole Republican in the President's cabinet.

                              Well played.

From news reports "resigned because you were told to" or "fired". This does not appear to be voluntary.
