Think of all the players who can help Paul Gaustad and Tim Jackman carry the North Dakota flag once there is an NHL team here!

The biggest things standing in the way of Wisconsin getting an NHL team have always been the saturation of the Milwaukee market and it's proximity to Chicago. If the market was a little bigger, a team would have been there a while ago IMO.

note that the states with the fewest rinks per capita have the highest rate of violence.

They could call them the Redskins. The name's not trademarked so that wouldn't cost them anything, and they already have all that gear they could use, after just a little tweaking with the name. Win/Win

                        That's my guess.

The arenamaps.com list denotes 11 "arenas" in Nebraska. And the list/map above that starts this post says there are 7. Of the arenapmas.com list, only 6 are ice-only facilities. Dunno what the discrepancy might be. It would be interesting to see the list, by state, of the arenas represented by the numbers in the map above.

Ironically, if you are correct, UNO's home ice is not included in the 7 rinks on the list for Nebraska.

The CenturyLink Center is far from being an "ice rink" and UNO, who has always been treated like a red-headed stepchild by the City of Omaha and MECA, the city's operating authority for the CenturyLink Center, the Omaha Civic Auditorium (UNO's old home), and TD Ameritrade Park (home of the College World Series), is now being treated like a lame-duck red-headed stepchild by that entity since UNO announced plans for their own arena, currently being constructed.

A while ago--I think in 2010--I took the USA Hockey data on registered players under 18 and calculated U18 players available per DI team in the state (along with some other calculations like U18 players per capita). Take it for whatever you think it is worth, but Illinois needs a darn team.
