I guess I keep gradually sliding left on economics, without changing much over the past 5 years on social stuff. Once again this time, I forced an answer and didn't go "neutral" on any issues, but now that I've done this thing several times over the years, some of the questions are definitely pigeonholing BS. Like, "Sometimes war is necessary, even if we have to strike first." That's a garbage question.

Or "A person's morality is of the most personal nature; therefore government should have no involvement in moral questions or promote moral behaviors." What defines morality? If I personally believe I have the right to kill and rape people, does that mean the gubmint should have a say in regulating my behavior by outlawing murder and rape? Again, garbage question.

Or "It is a problem when young people display a lack of respect for authority." Is it wrong for a kid to question what s/he's taught? Not necessarily. But if my future brat acts like a hooligan and won't accept the consequences when they are caught, you're d@mn right I'm not bailing them out.

I'd also like to rethink this one, a little bit:

'56: Eisenhower (for the most part, he'd proven to be a pragmatist and a moderate. The economy was humming along. Dems stupidly recycled a previous failed candidate. Why change?)
'60: Kennedy (there was a substantial recession in the latter half of Ike's second term. Nixon looked miserable in his public appearances.)
'64: LBJ (he was a vile SOB, but Goldwater was a loose cannon - essentially Dubya with a higher IQ, which actually makes him more frightening)
'68: Nixon (Humphrey was LBJ 2.0 - pass, thanks)
'72: Nixon (The Trickster gets a bad rap today. Yes, the Watergate and VP bribe scandals were buffoonish, but his first term was better than Democrats want people to think)
'76: Write-in Reagan Ford (if not for 2004, this would have to be the worst election in past 50 years)
'80: Anderson (it would take some further research and convincing, but i probably would've voted for him)
    '84: Reagan (*slurrrrrrp*....mmmm, Kool-aid)
'88: Bush Sr. (because Dukakis seemed like a buffoon)
    '92: B. Clinton (it's the economy, stupid)
'96: B. Clinton (because Dole's campaign was stillborn from the start)
'00: GWB Gore (however, I'm still not a fan of The Tin Man)
'04: Write-in "None of the Above" Kerry (I still vomit at the thought of this election - I was about three months shy of being old enough to vote in it)

Elections in which i actually voted:

'08: Obama (because Palin Derangement Syndrome)
'12: Wrote-in "None of the Above" (if I could go back and change this, I would vote for Obama again)
    '16: H. Clinton (duh)

Let these scores serve as a reminder you really don't want Board getting too involved in political threads around here.

Hardly surprising given that the 21st century has seen conservatism acquiring and deserving the reputation of a feckless fascist clusterf-ck.
