Yeah, I've had a few too. Oh, you mean your picks. I would have done much better if I hadn't picked the teams that I wanted to win.

    Re: 2013-2014: NCAA Weekly Pick'em

Through Friday's Games, here is where we stand

    Laker Dude's Regional
#1 Laker Dude vs. #16 vizoroo vizoroo is up 35-15. Astonishingly, vizoroo still has all of her 6 conference champions still alive, and could earn 60 more points. Given that Laker Dude can only gain a possible 17 points (if he got both bonus exactly correct), vizoroo will advance to the next round!

#8 all bear vs. #9 Irish08 all bear leads 30-25. all bear has a slight edge with 3 conference champions still alive (Union, Denver, Ferris), while Irish08 has only 2 (Lowell, Mankato). That means that the Ferris-Mankato matchup could likely decide the winner here. Bonus could also play a big factor...should be what we expected an 8-9 matchup to be If there is a tie, all bear holds the tiebreaker

    1988's Regional
#2 1988 vs. #15 HoosierPioneer HoosierPioneer leads 40-30, and holds any potential tiebreaker. Both players have 2 conference champions (HP: Union, Ferris. 1988: Denver, Mankato). Given the 10 point gap, there could easily be a tie that the bonus points would resolve.

#7 Aerman vs. #10 gochiefs gochiefs leads 30-25, and holds any potential tiebreaker. gochiefs also has 4 conference champions alive (Wisconsin, Union, Lowell, Ferris) while Aerman has only 2 (Union, Ferris). That means that gochiefs will be leading going into the bonus, by anywhere from 5 to 25 points. Even if down by 25, Aerman can make up for it with correct or near-correct bonus guesses.

    SFIS's Regional
#3 SiouxfaninSeattle vs. #14 drshoen drshoen leads 30-25, and holds any potential tiebreaker. Both players have Union and Ferris alive for conference championships, but SFIS has Wisconsin still alive in the B1G. A Wisconsin victory and SFIS goes into the bonus up 5. An OSU victory and drshoen goes into the bonus up 5. Given that they are quite close in their Total Goals Bonus Question (129-128), it would likely be NCHC saves that split any difference. SFIS predicted 221 saves, while drshoen predicted 234. Last night there were 100 goalie saves in the NCHC, and there have been 74 total goals scored thus far.

#6 FS23 vs. #11 Shirtless Bob Score is tied at 30-30, but Shirtless Bob holds the tiebreaker. We both have Ferris and Lowell alive in their conference championships, while I still have Union alive in the ECAC. If Union wins, I'll have a 10 point lead heading to the bonus. If not, we'll be tied. Bonus Guesses: NCHC Saves (FS23 - 221, SB - 123), Total Goals (FS23 - 102, SB - 150).

    Sweeney's Regional
#4 SweeneyHawksHockey vs. #13 97osu SHH holds a 30-25 lead, and holds the tiebreaker. Both have Ferris and Union, but SHH has Canisius and Wisconsin still alive. That means that SHH's lead will be anywhere from 5-25 points. The most 97osu can make up in Bonus is 15 points, so if both Canisius and Wisconsin win, SHH will clinch a victory

#5 FiveHole12 vs. #12 aygwm2 aygwm2 holds a 30-20 lead, and holds the tiebreaker. Both have Ferris, but only aygwm2 has Union. That means that aygwm2 will have either a 10 or 20 point lead heading into the bonus. The most FH12 can make up in bonus is 14 points. That means if Union wins, aygwm2 will advance, if not, then it will come down to bonus, with FH12 needing to be near perfect.

    TIEBREAKERS:
    1. Total Points scored in the Regional
    2. Correct W-L-T eligible game % from the current week
    3. Overall correct pick % from the season
    4. Coin Flip

Probably tomorrow or Monday, I'll have the results, including the most important category, overall points. Good luck to everyone today!

    From FS23:
    Laker Dude's Regional
#1 Laker Dude vs. #16 vizoroo vizoroo is up 35-15. Astonishingly, vizoroo still has all of her 6 conference champions still alive, and could earn 60 more points. Given that Laker Dude can only gain a possible 17 points (if he got both bonus exactly correct), vizoroo will advance to the next round!
I feel like the Holy Cross of the "Weekly Pick'Em"

BTW if i counted correctly there were 100 saves in the NCHC yesterday and only 84 goals scored Thursday and Friday. Wouldn't you know, if defense wins championships, the B1G forgot you had to score goals to win the games
    GO DU !!!

I'd gladly concede the Denver pick this afternoon.

Also, glad to know I already hold the coin flip tiebreaker!

    Re: 2013-2014: NCAA Weekly Pick'em

NCAA TOURNAMENT WEEK! So this week is similar to last week. You will pick the semifinal contests of each regional, and those games will count towards your overall W-L-T record. The Regional Champion that you pick does not have to be one of the two semifinalists that you picked, and that pick will not count towards your overall W-L-T record. The rules remain the same as all previous weeks. This week's deadline for getting picks in is FRIDAY, at 2:00pm EASTERN. Any picks submitted at 2:01pm Eastern on Friday or after will not be counted. If you see any mistakes in these selections, please let me know by Wednesday at 8:00pm Eastern. If not noticed by then, I will interpret how the mistake will be played. As always, everyone is welcome, even if you have yet to play thus far this year.

Also, I'll be keeping track of points specifically for the NCAA Tournament. After the Frozen Four, we'll have 4 "champions" of pick'em:
    1) Overall Point Leader
    2) Best W-L-T record
    3) Pick'em Tournament Challenge
    4) NCAA Tournament Leader

    Good luck!

West Regional Semifinals: (10 points per game)
    Minnesota vs. Robert Morris -
Notre Dame vs. St. Cloud State -

West Regional Champion: (15 points) -

Northeast Regional Semifinals: (10 points per game)
    Boston College vs. Denver -
Massachusetts Lowell vs. Minnesota State -

Northeast Regional Champion: (15 points) -

East Regional Semifinals: (10 points per game)
    Union vs. Vermont -
    Quinnipiac vs. Providence -

East Regional Champion: (15 points) -

Midwest Regional Semifinals: (10 points per game)
    Wisconsin vs. North Dakota -
    Ferris State vs. Colgate -

Midwest Regional Champion: (15 points) -

Bonus Question #1 (15 points if correct, otherwise, take 1 point off until 0 (can't go into negative)):
Total Number of Shots on Goal in the West Regional (3 games) -

Bonus Question #2 (15 points if correct, otherwise, take 1 point off until 0 (can't go into negative)):
Total Number of Penalty Minutes in the Northeast Regional (3 games) -

Bonus Question #3 (15 points if correct, otherwise, take 1 point off (CAN go into negative for your bonus up until zero*)):
Total Number of Minutes Played** in the East Regional (3 games) -

Bonus Question #4 (15 points if correct, otherwise take 1 point off until 0 (can't go into negative)):
Total Attendance (by hundreds) in the Midwest Regional*** (3 games) -

*For this Bonus Question, you can lose all of your bonus points. For example, if you earn all 45 bonus points from the other three questions, but are off by 35 minutes on this question, you would only earn 25 bonus points in addition to whatever regular points you score (15-35 = (-20). 45 + (-20) = 25). You cannot lose your points scored from the Regional picks. So, if you are off by 65 minutes, and earn 0 bonus points from the other 3 questions, and earn 80 points from the NCAA Tournament game predictions, your total will still be 80 points. Essentially, only bonus points are in jeopardy from this bonus. If you choose not to select an answer for this bonus question, I will assume you are predicting 0 minutes, and will lose any bonus points that you would otherwise gain. In other words, make a prediction here please .

**Number of Minutes Played will be rounded to nearest minute. For example, if there are 191 minutes and 31 seconds, the total number of minutes will be 192 minutes.

***For this question, pick how many people you think will attend the Midwest Regional. Scoring will go by the hundreds. For example, if you pick 15,000 total attendance for the three games, and there is actually 16,000, you would be off by 1,000. I will then divide that number 100, and you would earn 5 points (1000/100 = 10. 15-10 = 5 points earned). All attendance figures will be taken from the USCHO box scores. All attendance figures will be rounded to the nearest 100. For example, if the Total is 15,463, then the number I would use would be 15,500. If you picked 15,000, you would earn 10 points (15,500 - 15,000 = 500. 500/100 = 5. 15-5 = 10 points earned).

There are 200 points up for grabs this weekend. Good luck to everyone that plays!!

We are picking the totals from the USCHO box scores, combined for the 3 games. So, if USCHO lists 3,750 for Game 1, then 3,750 for Game 2, then 5,250 for Game 3, the total would be 12,750 (if my math is correct).
