    Former OHIO STATE, NHL playoffs.

Good Luck to this player. He's a great guy & just a few wins away from making the Stanley Cup finals.

We didn't get to see him play at all in this series with Pittsburgh. Let's hope he's in the lineup this next round.

Boy, this sure deserved its own thread. Especially in the Division I forum.

Six NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 15 years (1998-1999-2003-2004-2005-2009) and a Frozen Four (1998). Yeah, I would say we have a men's hockey program.

The football players started that in front of Ohio State. When the NFL shows the lineups & introduces the players some of them say , for example when Chris Carter was with the Minnesota Vikings he would say , " Chris Carter , THE Ohio State. "

It's the official name of the school (The Ohio State University). It's not arrogance as some want to believe. The former Buckeyes on the NFL broadcasts are simply being factual and calling the school by its official name.

I am not a Bruins fan, so I could be wrong on this, but I think Boston got a couple of D-men back for the Pittsburgh series.

I'm not sure he will get any ice time in the finals either.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If Boston wins The Cup, though, he will get his name on it and a championship ring!

I think he was on the team when Boston won it just a few years ago. Maybe he was on the farm (AHL ) team roster. Not sure what the rules are for a player to get name on cup or ring.

    I found a link to the info , https://www.wbur.org/2011/06/15/bruin...ks-stanley-cup

Question: What is the criteria for a player to get his name on the Stanley Cup?

Answer: The Stanley Cup is the only trophy in pro sport that bears the names of players, coaches, management and staff from the winning teams.
Prior to 1977 only players who had completed the Stanley Cup playoffs were eligible. Today, players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup. The NHL makes exceptions for players who do not meet the standard because of injury or other extenuating circumstances.
