An FYI: Makenna Webster's brother McKade is playing for Univ of Denver in the men's NCAA tournament; at this moment (3:30 CST Thursday) they are headed to OT vs UMass in their first round game.
(And if you wonder about a brother-sister winning championships in the same year, it's been done...Last edited by robertearle; Today, 03:38 PM.

The university has a few employees who work on "NIL and Community Outreach", coordinating efforts "finding creative and innovative ways for Wisconsin student-athletes to develop their personal brands in the NIL space and leads communications strategy for the Badgers Give Back program"....

NIL has nothing to do with the 'contact' rules that apply to transfers and the timing of their presence in the portal. Nothing at all.
Once they're in the portal, contact them and offer as much money as you want. Prior to their entry into the portal, contacting them is a violation of NCAA...

Sorry. He just pushes my buttons, with his hero worship of Muzeral and his "dynasty" nonsense. I try to ignore, and sometimes I fail.

It isn't whether Robert Earle thinks that, it is that the NCAA says that is a violation.

You're the one with all the supposed "inside info" that is saying she has violated NCAA rules, not me. "... done deal before she appeared officially in the portal" is what YOU said; that would be a violation of NCAA rules. "The Muzzinator gets who she wants when she wants."...

I guess if you're OK with supporting someone who cheats to win, that's your choice. It would not be mine....

I don't assume anything.
i also don't make "I know something you don't" posts. They bug the heck out of me.
If you know something and can say, then say it. If you don't know something, then don't pretend you do. And if you know but can't say because you're not supposed...

Does that have anything to do with posting about "news" that's been a subject of posts for the past half-dozen hours? "I see Sara Swiderski from Clarkson is in the portal." Yeah, so have the rest of us....

(With the occasional exception, of course. At least three Wisconsin born Patty Kaz winners.)...

You should check the prior posts before posting. Four posts already about Swiderski....

I posted a week or so about the podcast description of the process that a high-profile volleyball player went through when she submitted her name to the portal. Whenever it was yesterday or this morning, Swiderski probably got 40 or 50 texts, phone calls, email etc etc within about five minutes after...Last edited by robertearle; 03-26-2024, 07:47 PM.

Also understandable, but still... :-(
One year eligibility remaining, most likely a "grad transfer", though she red-shirted the COVID year, so that distinction probably doesn't mean as much in her case. Two championships. Thanks to her. Once a Badger, always a Badger....

That will be a good "get" for somebody.
I will note that she played in the 2022 U18 championships... at LaBahn Arena... in Madison, WI... with her Canadian blue line teammate, Ava Murphy... who currently plays in Madison... at LaBahn Arena...
... just sayin' :-)...

A year ago, Sophie's twin sister Kate transferred from Quinnipiac to Sacred Heart (NEWHA), and had a pretty good year. I wonder if Sophie is going to join her for their final year....Last edited by robertearle; 03-26-2024, 02:00 PM.

Understandably, Sophie Helgeson is in the portal. Undergrad transfer (maybe?, a 2021-22 freshman, so no COVID year), one year eligibility remaining.
Thanks to Sophie for her time as a Badger, 2023 national champion. Good luck to her finding more ice time. Once a Badger, always a Badger...Last edited by robertearle; 03-26-2024, 10:53 AM.

After this off-season, grad transfers will become much less common; there will simply be many fewer players graduating with eligibility remaining. COVID created most of them, and the grad transfers going into the portal right now are the last of those....
