How they handle the 90's ought to be interesting.

Agreed. LSSU, Michigan, and Maine each won two, while BU was constantly at the door, and took home 1 title. Then of course you have North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Northern Michigan all with 1 title, but they had struggles through big portions of the decade as well. Minnesota was a near-constant threat up until the very end of the decade, and a variety of other teams were strong throughout portions of the decade (ex. Clarkson, Harvard, CC, Vermont).

Also, I don't think they plan on finishing the 2000s before moving to other decades. On our last conference call we got our ballots for the All-Decade team for the 1990s, so that could very well be next. I suppose we'll see though.

I thought I would start this thread for discussion on how the decades unfold. Also, I believe CHW plans on doing each decade back to at least the 1930s. Anyway, enjoy!

Agreed. While he had better years in 2001-2002 and 2003-2004, it was the 2003 ECAC Series with Yale that I remember Danis just standing on his head. Yale came after Brown with just chance after chance and Danis just stonewalled them. It was one of the top 5-10 goaltending performances that I have ever seen.

Guess this list would show how often the "best" team doesn't win (only 4 Champs in the top 10). Two gopher championship teams don't even make the top 20 for the decade.

The '02 squad was #19, but yes, it goes to show that at least recently, the best squad does not always capture the hardware. In the top 25 teams of all-time list, I went year by year and listed who the "best" team was and where the national champion finished in that particular year.

That should have been assumed given the thread is in the Men's Division 1 Forum.

Wow, I think it was pretty obvious York would be Coach of the Decade for 2000s, but when you lay out all the numbers it's a no brainier. Pretty impressive.

Very cool idea, can't wait to see more!

Well there is no "generic college hockey" forum, and this is the most popular of the three specific fora, so that's not necessarily a given. =)
