  • Alaska @ Notre Dame, Saturday

No score about halfway through the first.

Steve Thompson got the start tonight over Scott Greenham for the Nanooks. Scott is a hell of a goalie, and quite possibly the best one to ever come through our program, but I agree with giving Thompson a chance. I don't blame this slow start on Greenham, as our defense has generally resembled swiss cheese so far, but when you're winless you have to shake things up. It's not like we can fall any farther in the standings.

End of 2nd, still 1-0 Irish.

That was Lee's 12th on the year, leading the nation. One of the assists went to Tynan, his 15th. I think both of those numbers lead the nation.

12 seconds apart, Carlo Finucci and Andy Taranto.

2-1 Alaska, about 15:00 left in the 3rd.

                Two quick goals for Alaska.

First was an awful miscue by ND, cleared puck from side of net that hopped back out right in front for Alaska to finish easily. Then immediately after faceoff, ND got possession in the offensive zone but then got caught on an ice-long break for the second score.

By which I assume you didn't mean "immediately commit a penalty to give ND a man advantage"

Killed off without a single scoring opportunity.

Still 2-1 Nanooks with about 12:00 to play.

2-2 with 3:30 or so to play.

Johns banged one of the blocker, Lee put it back towards the net and it might've gone in, but Tynan left no doubt, smashing it home.

Regardless of the outcome in OT, I think Steve Thompson has earned his stripes tonight. Good showing for a guy who's played twice since 2009.
