  • Miami @ Alaska, Nov 4th & 5th: "Occupy the Cellar"

In protest of social and economic inequality, corporate greed, corruption and influence over government, and the accumulation of the talent rich teams of the NCHC, the Nooks will make their move to occupy the CCHA cellar this weekend.

Injuries, inexperienced defense, inability to finish scoring chances, and mediocre goaltending probably have more to do with our protest movement than any moral compass, but that’s our story and we’re sticking to it.

This is a tough team to read right now. At times we look pretty good and control play, but we just can't seem to finish our quality scoring chances. In truth, I wouldn't be surprised if we get swept or if we sweep. But I prefer the later.

    Down with the Man!
    Go Nooks!!

Whichever team is more desperate comes away with wins. I have a hard time believing Miami is really that bad...then again I also have a hard time believing that we are that bad.

Another frustrating loss last night, this time to Miami (2-1). I only took pics during the first period, and for the most part we did not play well. As desperate as we are for a win, you'd think that we would come out with more passion. But we didn't and ended up down one and out-shot 7-3 in the first. We gave Miami way too many chances around the net. But the Nooks re-grouped and really controlled play the rest of the game, out shooting Miami 27-7 in the second and third. But we each scored one goal.

We can't seem to pull the trigger. We missed a number of open nets and quality scoring chances. The saying is that teams make their own breaks. We can't seem to even buy one. We may be getting out-scored, but we're not getting out played. But moral victories suck, and that type of game summary is wearing thin. I hope I get to see it when the jinx on this team finally breaks. And it wil...

We had a few chances in the first, but unfortunately, most the action was in front of Greenham...

Cody Kunyk had a breaking Andy Taranto on a wide open net but we couldn't finish the deal...

Miami gave us fits around the net during the first...

The Nooks were giving Miami way too much room to work...

And the next three pics show how it paid off for Miami. A wrap around attempt blocked by Greenham that flutters into the air, and is batted or knocked in for the Miami score...

The Nooks settled down and started playing much better near the end of the first. They continued to controlled a lot of the play the rest of the game, but to no avail.

Thanks as always for the pics, mmf. I posted this on our season thread, but if I was running the show I would give Greenham the night off tonight. He looks off...almost like he's playing hurt. Whatever it is, he isn't getting a whole lot of support in front of him. Drygas made a comment last night that at some point in time somebody from our D line has to take a stand and quit letting opposing players get at the net.
