Lakers lost 3-2. Alaska scored on a rebound after Murdock made two saves with about 6 minutes to go. The goal came less then 30 seconds after Monardo had a goal waived off because Jean was in the crease.

MacParland had a great chance to tie the game with about 3 minutes left. He was all alone in front, the top of the net was wide open, but he shot it right into the pad of Greenham.

Thanks for the updates, it's appreciated. Again, the Lakers can't take advantage of a team lower in the standings, and will fall lower in the National Rankings, Pariwise, and CCHA ladder. This team simply is not getting the job done the second half of the season as usual. This is a series they had a real solid chance of sweeping. Now they have to get points from a very good Bronco team, and face a good Northern team on the road. I don't see them sweeping either of these series with the way they're playing.

The Lakers were 17th in the Pairwise going into the game, but dropped back to 20th with the loss.

Just so you guys know, I got to watch the game tonight and the officials blew it tonight. I dvr'd it and I watched the third period twice now and there was uncalled tripping on Alaska on three different occasions including leading directly into the score. And the stretch of thirty seconds where jean and pobur both "lost" their sticks, it wasn't butterfingers, jean had his stick ripped from his hands and pobur was slashed. Truly pathetic officiating in the third, which is sad because the officials did so good all weekend.

Sounds like the second string goalie didn't get the job done and Ravn might have been a better choice, but we know why he didn't play.

            Warm up those clubs.

Let's see when your college finishes 8th place again if you people can draw 2000 fans for the entire weekend. Remember the actual crowd about 400 last year on national tv. Then again that is probably someone else's fault as well like a legendary coach that built a once national powerhouse, star players cut fit no reason, or talented ones like raven getting the blame, not seeing the ice, hoping that he quits. Shame on you people blindly defending this year after year after year after year after year after year after year.

Too bad Frank never won a game in Alaska when he was the coach.

And Frank never had his team just four points from 2nd place with just four games left in the season during his second stint.

Let's please not make this about Frank vs Jim or anything like that because of some goof bag like Truth.....just ignore him, he's a petty, immature and jealous person who's simply trying to snag in company in order to share his misery....enough of him and lets look forward to the rest of the season and enjoy the fact that the Lakers are in the hunt this year!!

What is Frank doing these days by the way?

I am sure such a winning coach would have no problem getting a coaching job. Maybe I have missed all his winning. Please me know TBA. In the meantime, Coach Roque and the Lakers will live and continue to win without you and your shorter and as crazy half at our little University.

Tough to sweep on the road.

Bill keenly noted that the Lakers have given away some points this season. The four overtime shootout wins are great, and they would be struggling without those extra four points. BUT -- where would they be if they had those lost four points in the bank (and converesly some of the teams they are chasing were deprived of those points)? You can't un-ring a bell, of course, and so we haev the record that the Lakers have -- sitting at .500 in the league. Its been a better season than that record would indicate, or it seems like it should be better. I believe in this scrappy team. And I believe they can do great things. But its HARD to win on the road in the CCHA this year -- and home ice for at least the first round is a must. Its virtually impossible to swing back-to-back road playoff series wins.

So once again, a huge weekend coming up. Western. Home. Last chance at home to put their foot down and really shoot up the standings.

Its weekends like this where someone who truly cared would go around doing whatever they could to drum up even more interest in the games and get the students packed in there making noise. When I was a student there we had a few people who did that. They litterally went door to door talking to students and getting them excited. This is when we need all the various clubs and organizations to do something and get students there and make some noise. If anyone on here is a current student, I implore you to do what you can to get people to the games. Talk to the radio stations and the compass and other newspapers. Go to Student Life or Housing or whatever and see if there is something they can do to help get the word out. Talk to the concessions folks. Maybe they can do a giveaway or something where each student can get a free drink or something. This weekend needs to be loud!

Ok I agree drum it up. So when is the University going to do a pep rally or something. Please don't tell me this is a University. I know other D1 programs that have done it in the past. Also when are the players going to talk it up in the lunch room. I have seen them there in the past and I can never recall them asking fellow students to come watch them. In fact I have been there eating lunch on occasion during a game weekend and was sitting with players that never said a word like are you going to the game. How about getting a sponsor to do a t-shirt day ect. So the colors are running through the stadium. Hey I could go on but I am sorry attendance at the game starts with the team asking the student body to go door to door. If too busy in person tweet ect. but really I have to believe if they start it they could reach everyone during the time they are at school.

Student excitement is where I think the program suffers because of a basketball-based AD. There was always a certain level of resentment within the athletics department by the basketball teams against the hockey team. Part of this is psychological: basketball is the big game at most schools, and basketball players were the big jocky school stars in high school. At LSSU, of course, basketball is a harmless diversion, and this is very hard for the basketball types to swallow (I know this from close associations with most of the basketball coaches and assistant coaches over the years . . . they honestly can't understand why hockey gets the Lion's share of the attention). So now we have an AD who is immersed in the LSSU basketball culture. And LSSU basketball culture carries with it this chip on the shoulder.

Ms. Dunbar is doing agreat job, and I don't want to be critical. In fact, I am not being critical of her administration -- except when it comes to filling the Abel Arena with students.

Previous posters are correct -- there were many years when students, student groups, and the players themselves worked door to door, drumming up student interest. Anzalone and Jackson were both quite passionate about getting students to the games. Anzalone took it as a point of personal pride, and would go to the classrooms and encourage attendance for big games -- making a little stump-speech for a minute or two.

But back to the basketball nonsense. What happens is this: In order to fully and properly promote hockey -- the other sports must take a back seat. Its just a fact of limited supply -- there are too few students to pack both hockey and basketball. And since the students have never packed a basketball game at LSSU; and since hockey is the only D-I sport at LSSU; the natural result is this -- if you are going to push and prod students to get out for a game, its likely going to be pushing and prodding to get out to a hockey game. And this sticks in the hoops-program's craw deeeeeeeeeep down in their DNA. Ms. Dunbar needs to do more, but its possible that she just can't do it.

How unfair, but that's life :-)

Okay, so today you blame the others sports' for the poor assistance because they don't promote hockey enough.

In order to fully and properly promote hockey -- the hockey must take a front seat ... and they definitely have far more means to do it.
Are you saying that if hockey can't run fast enough, the others should slow down and pull them ?

Seriously, the limited resentment by the basketball teams against the hockey team is the same as all other athletes and is just understandable. The relationship is excellent on an individual level, so if someone is to be blamed, don't look outside the hockey program.

Really ? What do you think is wrong with them ? Actually, I even saw some giving a hand for an event with another team.

Thanks to the hockey specialists on this forum, I now know that coaching hockey in the soo area is very unlike other sports, don't tell me promoting hockey is again something different ... all my references are falling apart.

The AD, the basketball people and the players should take care of promoting the team ?
Despite being the staunch fanbase of the person in charge of the hockey program, none of you is offering to do it :-)
