Great to see DU's Matt Carle and Paul Stastny made the list. As a point of order, Stastny was only at DU for 2 years and one NCAA Championship. Matt Carle does have 2 NCAA Championships and the Hobey Baker Award.

Nice Job with the list. No matter who you pick there will be detractors. Nice to see UVM well represented...

Other than spelling Ryan Kesler's last name wrong, I have no problem with this list. Definitely agree with R.J. Umberger being in there at honorable mention. I thought he deserved to be mentioned. He's not a big time goal scorer, but he works his butt off for the CBJ and brings his A game every night, every shift.

I think Quick should definately be on the list.

I'll be a homer too, and mention Matt Moulson (Islanders) and Douglas Murray (Sharks), both of Cornell and both making a big impact in the NHL.

Don't know how many are familiar with the story of honorable mention, Dustin Penner, who is listed because he went to Maine. Interesting and inspiring story. He finishes HS in a small Manitoba town and gets turned down at least three times by junior teams. He's thinking of trying to become an electrician or something like that, but at the last possible minute a friend or family member convinces him to enroll at a tiny junior college in Bottineau ND that used to be called the School of Forestry. He doesn't even play much at first, gets hurt, then blossoms and is eventually spotted by someone from Maine who was attending an evaluation camp to scout another player.

After Maine, he lands with Anaheim and ends up skating around the rink with the Cup his rookie year.

Totally below the radar, which in this age of year-round play and elite leagues, is refreshing. Why did North Dakota need a "School of Forestry" to tend to their 1 tree?

Seems counterintuitive, doens't it? I smiled when I put that part in, expecting Happy to jump on it.

Actually, I think tree planting an management was seen as critical for the survival of NoDak grain farming after the lessons they learned in the dust bowl.

Just a sad note for a BU fan - one player listed, and he's only in honorable mention.

Yes, lots of recent retirees have thinned out the list of BU impact NHL players (Amonte, Tkachuk). The overall number for BU is not bad (I think around 9). I think Ryan WHitney deserves honorable mention. And Shattenkirk willbe an impact player (most points for rookie d-man last year).
