Where is Klumpy's video of Allain's explanation for the bench penalties?

Disappointing trip up north, they need to sweep at home to establish any last shred of their former selves.

That really stinks about Otto, concussions in hockey are now a major issue, a good friends son who might have had a Division One future took one hard hit the other day and will never play another game of competitive hockey due to his concussion, I am so glad that these things are being diagnosed, but imagine how many went unnoticed over the years and how many players will now try to avoid the trainers and docs just to keep playing. It can be such a viscous sport.

Very disappointing game tonight. Its becoming apparent that Yale has one line that is a credible threat to score. The lack of offensive balance is putting too much pressure on the Miller-O'Neill-Agostino line and causing them to try to be too fine with the puck, rather than simply get pucks to the net. I am stunned at Yale's inability to carry the puck into the offensive end, much less sustain possession and put pressure on the opposing defense. I thought the first goal given up by Maricic was soft, but he settled down and made some very good saves after that. Union's goalie Grosenick is very good, but Yale never truly tested him. Not sure where the team goes from here. I noted Coach Allain's comments this week about how well the team was practicing and he expected good things to come from that. That may yet be true, but Union looked to be much the better team tonight.

Cornellgrad, I do agree about the one line. Bourbonais, Lags, and Ruffolo (or balch) have been able to create a lot of offense lately and throughout the season but are way to inconsistent, and they just did not bring it tonight. I thought the same could be said for Yale as a team as they had spurts where Union could not do anything but then at times they looked awful. I thought their Defense was pretty good tonight. The first goal 5 on 5 was very soft, then they scored a shorthanded goal and a PP goal, but the 5 on 5 chances were very limited for Union. Yale just needs to find a way to score more goals outside the PP and that first line.

The silver lining I would say is that Union and Cornell are running away with the league and should be in the final four in Atlantic City, and Yale is not far off. They were by no means dominated tonight and I thought they were in the game even though I personally thought they did not play well tonight.

Allain is a fascinating study. He says he's giving #2 goalie a shot to stir things up. Then when the kid surrenders a soft goal in first period he pulls him, reportedly yells at him on bench, then sends him back in 43 seconds later.
So he's a former goalie and respected enough in coaching circles to have been coach of us @ world juniors.
But after the ncaa meltdown #1 v bc and the seemingly endless goalie questions dogging the bulldogs one wonders if he has been given hall pass when it comes to recruiting and managing the position he should know best. he seems to take a lot of liberties in his handling of goalies and the results he gets are often not good.

Alec Richards? Ryan Rondeau? Jeff Malcolm's numbers are solid...he's started every game. The one season Yale "struggled" at the position, they still came within a game of the Frozen Four. Seems he's doing just fine managing his goalies.

Nothing reportedly about it. He pulled Maricic and dressed him down pretty good. It's one thing to go after the refs when things don't go your way but what he did to that kid last night was uncalled for IMHO, especially when Maricic was making his first start and only his 3rd(?) appearance of the season.

I thought Maricic played pretty well after some initial jitters. Kind of a tough spot to throw him into with so little playing time. If Allain did chew him out it adds to my lack of respect for him. I was surprised that Yale didn't put up a better effort. It definitely looks to me like they have been degrading since the first Union game. Still if they can get it together they could be a dangerous team in the playoffs.

Maricic was visibly upset as he skated to the bench. He went through the door and looked like he was heading down the tunnel when Allain ran to the end of the bench and looked to call him back, almost like telling a little child "you get back here right now". For at least several seconds it looked like Maricic was getting a tongue lashing from his coach. Then, just as quickly as it happened, he skated back to the net at the next stoppage and played a much improved game for the duration. It was but one of several oddities in last nights game, including a puck that split in half resulting in a stoppage of play and there was also a broken stick where the bottom half ended halfway up in the stands from the slot.

Perhaps it wasn't a tongue lashing after all but a veteran coach and former goalie pulling him off for a quick pep talk. He certainly came back and played solid. Allain is too smart to thrash a young goalie especially because it appears we're going to need better goaltending to compete. In our 9 loses the save % is scary bad.

Crazy game tonight, Yale spent alot of time in the RPI end with little to show for their effort, they outshot them 2-1 but most shots were either directly into the goalies chest or just not quality shots. Merriam for RPI was outstanding in goal as was the RPI defense, which clogged the lane and clared the puck. Yale was out skated alot tonight, even to icings, in the past they have prided themselves on team speed and outhustling their opponents, it is not the case anymore. Being sub .500 for the first time in 4 years is pretty bad IMO but the losses have been close ones except for Cornell. Hopefully we have some size on defense coming in for the future recruiting classes, we also need a forward who can actually stay in front of the net for more than two seconds. Sorry for the rant, getting fed up with the bad bounces and pipes hit (two tonight). Oh BTW Whittemore sux as a ref and completely blew the Day penalty.
