Sheeesh...what was that?? Sounds like we were playing against two teams out there. And that barn....no reviews, low ceiling, funny seats? Refs who let the fans determine goals?
There are gonna be nights like this. Go get 'em tomorrow afternoon guys!
did not play like a top ten team in the least
no discipline whatsoever
goalie rebounds
off sides with every other pass
nice time to fall apart when it matters most
just plain ugly
18 hours to get it together Colgate
C'mon Tchr. The game I heard straight from Gate Radio had the refs in Ferris' pocket. Lot of off side calls that were bogus according to GR. Was taking Smitty off the ice for ten min a legitimate call? A shaky game by the zebras is more like what happened rather than our own self destruction IMO. Shabby, what do you think? You saw the game, right

Little bit of both. In the end, Ferris out-hustled and out-worked Colgate in the third period. While the officials were not good, Ferris deserved to win the game. I'm sure we'll see a better effort tomorrow. That said, you can't teach size and Ferris most definitely had that with some of their forwards - a lot like Cornell though from watching the Red on television, Cornell skates a little better and has more high-end skill. Colgate also needs to be able to generate more offense and more high quality scoring chances. You can't win when just one of your goals is scored by a forward.
Coverage is brutal....they are showing the zamboni doing the ice with no sound!!!!
Normally Ferris State has a television production of their games. 4 camera angles, instant replays, graphics, etc but the students are not back from Christmas break yet. So for the time being, it's one camera angle, no student section or band. Their arena is pretty cool, I recently found the Bulldogs and love watching their games. Their website has cool pictures that I think resemble the program well here: http://www.ferrisstatebulldogs.com/s..._Photo_Gallery
Think 'GateRadio said video reviews were not an option. Don't know why, this isn't pee wee hockey and we have the technology. Should be able to throw a red flag onto the ice and challenge a call for heaven's sake.
That was a difficult game to listen to. The refs sounded poor but why make excuses...whine, whine, whine. Colgate/ECAC got a taste of reality in the big leagues, no surprise. Vaughan blowing his top...understandable but don't get mad, get even. Play smart. Smith fortunate he only got 10min...you have to know all eyes are on him so get real. Lack of discipline cost us the game, deserved or not. Does a coach have any recourse if he thinks officiating is questionable? Too little, too late anyway.
We were outhustled, outmatched and undersized. Shots were 26-8 at one point? We need to make some major adjustments. Can't compete against top teams in the country with performances like Canisius or this last meltdown. Think we are a bit overrated but a win today and games against Cornell and Union will tell a lot more. Would like to see Evin in net more.
Didn't get to see/listen to the game last night (and I won't be able to again today) but it sounded like we had a bad 3rd period that cost us the game. Throw in the refs giving Austin Smith a 10-min. misconduct and from the above posts a Ferris St. goal that should have been reviewed wasn't and it sounds like we got the short end of the stick. But allowing 44 shots on goal? That's not a recipe for success. Gotta play better defensively today.
But back in October, we lost 4-3 to Miami only to rebound the next night. Hopefully we can rebound this afternoon. Wonder if we'll see Evin in net today?
Boy TchrBill, I didn't realize how "half empty" your glass really was. You're more like a 9/10ths empty type guy. 12-5-2, 2nd place in the ECAC, grab a Valium and chill.
Not the teams best effort against an extremely hungry team that is exceptionally tough at home (with those refs you can see why). Ferris beat Notre Dame at home 4-1, 3 weeks ago so I'd say they are a pretty good squad. That being said, we had the lead with 7 minutes left. On the road, with a 1 goal lead you need to be able to win that game.
And TchrBill, Mihalik was excellent. Your statements about not being able to play with the Big Boys is asinine. Miami-Ohio, Nebraska, Merrimack. TUC record 4-3-1.
As mentioned previously the coverage was one camera and sometimes behind the play. I had no problem with the officiating, it was more the performance of the team. Face it, we just came out flat. Someone here mentioned Don throwing a fit, I didn't see that either.
Smith was out for twelve minutes, that didn't help either. Second period we were pretty good, third period we were horrible. The tying goal looked questionable, player was allowed to come out from behind the net and it ws stuffed in somehow, bodies all over. All in all we were outplayed and shots were about two to one against us.
We're not going to win all, but we need to bounce back today.

C'mon 'Gate, get the split.
Another negative post from TchrBill. What would you expect?
Forgot to mention, Congrats to Cornell on the excellent win last night. That was awesome, keep it going tonight.
Another big game last night was the Yale loss to Qpac. Check out the league standings, Cornell and Gate have only played 8 games. After tonight both will have some games in hand.
