Any additional news.? I heard a not reliable rumor that the WCHA was holding a spot for them. Will we hear anything before the end of the year?

I haven't heard anything more on it either, I dug around last week and nothing new as far as I know.

Heres a link with more details

Here is a little update. I hate to admit it, but this is kind of going the way I thought it might. Good initial interest, but wasn't sure there would be enough momentum to get it all the way there, it's not dead yet, but it's a looking a little sick. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/343904/group/Sports/

Hockey situation at MSU Moorhead is still being supported (http://www.wday.com/event/article/id/57440/group/homepage/)This is obviously an up hill battle MSU-Moorhead has 17 million and need another 19 million or so.

While I think you don't wanna rush anything, 2103 may not be an aggressive enough start date.

And two MSUMs could be confusing

Exactly. I would think with decent financial planning that they could invest the $17million (or whatever they have) and easily have the $30 million they are hoping to have by 2103. :p:D:D

Either that, or perhaps Peters was using some funky European version of dating, and he meant March 21st, 2014...which would surely be an odd time, as it would be either Conference Tournament or NCAA First Round. Perhaps he's hoping to buy his school a spot in one of those tournaments with $30 million?

NDSU-MSUM. You know Fargo would dump $30 million easy so they would no longer have to cheer for the Sioux. :D

This is great news!

So if this happens, does it make Fargo a possible place for the new WCHA tourney

We'll be forced to just say Mankato or Moorhead, effectively undoing MnSCU'S efforts to rebrand them. Which is funny.

Not if you're an UAH fan. Without any details on their money situation, this really feels like all they trying to do is to keep their name out there as a possibility so the WCHA folks don't fill their last spot with UAH.

According to twitter the road is over for Moorhead.

MSU-Moorhead will not add D-I hockey, per an e-mail sent to alums. Had been considering since 2009.

Well that was anti-climactic.

Not that it matters anymore, but I know there was some speculation earlier in this thread. Turns out, the major donor to Dragon hockey was Sanford Health, to the tune of a $10 million donation for hockey scholarships.
