The NCAA isn't likely to make any rules changes or exemptions for one, mostly non-revenue sport. That's exactly the problem. If someone started a basketball junior league, the NCAA would act immediately,

They sure as heck would. I know the OHL had american kids, but Ben was almost out of High school or was out. And I know A kid from my home town went to the whalers as a freshman, and he just signed a multimillion dollar deal with nashville. However I thought it was mostly the exception and now it appears it's the rule.
College hockey inc can at least make a brochure up that goes to all kids 14 or 15 as to what the rules are.

Ben would have been beginning his senior year of high school this fall.

Good news everyone!
Spirit shirt voting is open again this year! Also, there is nothing along the lines of "I am Husky."

Blue and Silver? Doesn't that go completely against all of "The Institution's" marketing and promotional guidelines for campus branding?

Calling all Tech fans (in particular, Pep Banned-ers):

Anyone remember the finer details of "Kazoo-gate" vs. NMU, the story that was posted on the old HPB boards a few years ago? More importantly, did anyone happen to save it? Basically, it tells the story of how the Pep Band was banned from carrying instruments on NMU/Lakeview Arena property sometime between 1984 and 1987 (NMU player Joe West was involved in the story), and the result of their response.

Flashy and I are working on an article about the history of the Tech/Northern rivalry, and I'd love to work that in somehow.

I feel as if I may have gotten the details via DAWG or BA! spam. I'll do some digging tomorrow.

I voted, and then it sent me to a confirmation page with the option to "print for my records". I can't seem to think of any reason why I would need to print and save a copy of my vote. Anyone?

I remember it from the old DaWGs forum. I don't think anyone ever verified if this story is true or not, but here goes.

We were at NMU being our usual selves, completely overpowering their fans and band, receiving numerous complaints from butthurt NMU fans that they couldn't hear their band over us, etc. We had been riding Joe West (hotheaded high-energy NMU forward) throughout the game. In the 3rd period we kidnapped one of NMU's flutes and brought her over to our side. Lakeview was set up so that it was possible to curve a puck up around the end netting and into the goal end stands. After one taunt too many, Joe West finally got fed up and lofted a puck up to us...and clocked the kidnapped NMU flute in the head. Blood, ambulance, everything. This led to the ban.

We then showed up the next night in civvies with kazoos, etc. even louder than the last night. Joe West tried to nail us with another puck and missed. IIRC, someone yelled "No wonder NMU can't score - they can't hit what they're aiming at!"

There's another story going around about stealing Willy the Wildcat's head, which sgt_brass' dad confirms true.

We need to gather up some like minded schools, and then all leave at once.

I speak the truth.Different Joe West. That still doesn't negate the truth about MLB's Joe West though.

NMU's Joe West is (or was) working for the German Elite League team EC-Hannover Indians as a co-trainer.

Michigan Tech (http://www.michigantechhuskies.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=18800&ATCLID=205184533) press release states that David Johnstone, Jimmy Davis, Blake Pietila, and Tanner Kero have signed letters of intent and will be playing for Michigan Tech during the 2011-12 season. Johnstone is being bumped up from what Heisenberg has him listed as and Justin Fillion, Nick Cecere, and Reid Sturos are MIA on this list even though Heisenberg has them listed as 2011 recruits. I know insider information has Fillion not able to attend in 2011 but I do wonder about Cecere and Sturos. That also leave Michigan Tech with only 1 other player committed for 2012 & beyond (Jujhar Khaira) with Samuel Labrecque supposedly decommitting after Russell's resignation.

well this is not a total surprise given the possibility that the coaching staff might or might not have had an input. I do know that they have been putting in a tremendous amount of hours on recruiting. Still so few for 2012 is kind of concerning.

Flashy had a rumor 2-3 weeks ago that Fillion decommitted the same time Labrecque did, but now your rumor has cast doubt on that. He's a '90 birthdate, and turned 21 in April. Whatever the reason, it must be a pretty serious if he's going to give up a year of eligibility.

As for Heisenberg, I don't think he keeps up with transfers and decommits as much during the summer months - just additions.
