The problem is that UND focused too much on actually doing worthwhile things for American Indians rather than coming up with a scheme for keeping the nickname?

Sure they did. A couple of scholarships for Seminole students is pretty much on the same level as educating a quarter of the American Indian doctors in the country.

Your wide-ranging inaccurate diagnoses of me are becoming a problem. So today I'm paranoid? What was it the last time you tracked me down here? Was it psychopathic? And before that? Wasn't I suffering from grandiose delusions or some crap? You've got to pick something and stick with it. Be consistent. Watch I'll show you how in the example below ...

            "Old Pio,
A constant blood alcohol level above .20 combined with age-related degenerative brain disease isn't .... yada yada yada ..."

See; that sort of consistent label is what you should be striving for if you trying to convince anyone that what I say here has no value or should be ignored. Of course, they actually get to make up their own minds regardless of the labels applied.

Sounds like overwhelming support for use of the Sioux name from the tribes!
Yes there is overwhelming support for UND. True there are a lot of PC politicians on tribal councils that oppose use of the name. But in the only actual ballot vote of the issue 75% of the Native Americans that voted on the issue, in a tribal election, approved UND's continued use of the name. I believe some other polls were taken also that had similar results. So yes actual voting and poll results give a strong indication that the majority of North Dakota Native Americans approve of UND's continued use of the name.

Politicans in opposition to this Native American majority view can continue to oppose UND's use of the nickname, they can continue to write letters, and they can make proclamations without the grassroots political support from the people the represent. But these same politicians have a duty to represent the will of the people they represent, and if 75% of Native Americans have voted for UND to continue using the nickname, then their vote should be honored. It is Un-American for these elected officials to resist the will of the people. But these are tribal councils we are talking about, so at least for now, maybe they do not need to be a faithful represenative of their own people.

Really? Go look at your response to my one post on this. All I did was ask if you ever heard about the conditions the Irish lived in in the slums of New York and Chicago in the 19th Century. You responded by attacking my intelligence, questioning my maturity, and implying that I was d unk. I had directed no insults toward you whatsoever, and you responded by spewing invective toward me, someone you know absolutely nothing about. Your behavior in this thread has been abominable and ban-worthy.

This post along with some of your others on this page really made me smile. I am glad you neg repped me earlier for "not staying on topic of thread". You also seem to ignore responses to your points and instead attempt to come up with the most clever insults you can think of.

No one cares what you think of other posters.

So has there been any discussion about the fact that even if UND stops using the Sioux, they will still be hostile and abusive because Dakota is still in the name? I mean that is an indian tribe too right?

Ok then how do conditions the Irish lived in in the slums of New York and Chicago in the 19th Century relate to whether or not UND should currently keep it's Indian Head logo and Fighting Sioux name?

Does this have anything to do with potatoes? North Dakota has lots of potatoes!!!!

You're right. I thought I was responding to MavsFan14. I was already impressed by his complete lack of cognition and thought it was he that was stupid enough to compare the treatment in this country that is historically common to all immigrant peoples to the genocide perpetrated on the indigenous people of this continent. My apologies for saying I didn't hurl an insult without receiving one. I did indeed insult you first.
