Re: Who won coach of the Year

Since Blashill and Dennehy were inexplicably not their conferences choices and thus ineligible, Leaman and Sandelin finishing 1-2 is as it should be.

Given that there's only ~60 teams, it's kind of weird that the award has such restrictive qualifications.

Can you imagine the Hobey finalists automatically being the players of the year in each league + the rosters of the Frozen Four teams?

Leaman? Seriously? Congratulations, you took a program that never won anything and... still have never won anything.

Re: Who won coach of the Year

WMU's coach Jeff Blashill was named USCHO coach of the year.

By your logic, then, we should probably go back and retroactively award the Penrose to the coach whose team won the national championship that year. Never mind Leaman has made Union hockey relevant.

I forget that you Easterners inexplicably give less weight to the Conference Title (The Conference Playoff Title is merely the Conference Playoff Title, just look at any of the banners in the WCHA or CCHA. Well, except North Dakota, the Conference Playoff title means so little to them that they don't hang banners for it at all )

We have a banner for Conference Playoff Titles, but when I was there earlier this year, they hadn't even put 2010 on it. It's not in the rafters though, it's sort of hidden on one of the ends.

Huh, must be newish, or I missed it. I've only been to the Ralph once, in Jan 2008, and I didn't see one even though I actually made a point of looking for it.

That doesn't surprise me, and it could very well be new. I never noticed it until this year, but I hadn't been to a game at the Ralph since '07. It's tucked away in the upper corner next to the bar on the end the Sioux shoot at twice. Like I said though, it's difficult to see, and they apparently don't update it very often.
