Me three. I don't really feel like people genuflecting to BC and ND just because they have a big FB rivalry and they have big cash. Kind of like having a new rich kid on the block. Yuck. Totally infantile I know but my gut reaction.

Like it or not, having ND in HE will help UML recruiting, as it will for all the HE programs.

USHR is reporting that former UML assistant coach Jerry Forton will be joining the Harvard coaching staff.
The best of luck to Jerry at Harvard.

Look for Harvard to name Jerry Forton, formerly at UMass-Lowell, as their new assistant.

Forton, a Buffalo, NY native who played his college hockey at the University of Buffalo, was an assistant at Niagara University from 1996 – the year Niagara went Div. I – to 2008. He came to UMass-Lowell two years ago, where he was reunited with Blaise MacDonald, who had initially hired him at Niagara.

Forton, in total, has 15 years experience as a Div. I assistant. Both his employers -- Niagara and Lowell -- have tended to draw from all over the place in their search for players, so Forton is extremely well connected throughout leagues all across North America. He’s also outgoing, with a fine sense of humor – and that’s always a good thing.

Forton joins Albie O'Connell, who was hired to Ted Donato's staff last month.

IMHO, it's a Catch-22. Monty's right, having ND in the league will attract more "Westerners" to look east, especially kids around the Lake Michigan area all the way to Chicago. Hockey East does become stronger by having them in the league.

The down side....Lowell has to compete against another powerhouse university. While one can make an argument that South Bend and Lowell are a wash as far as cities go ;), there is really no contest about alumni base or name recognition on a National level.

Hockey East has posted the composite schedule (http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/schedule/index.php), and it has Lowell hosting Niagara on Sunday 10/23. Goriverhawks.com does not have this game listed.

It was probably on the rough draft and someone forgot to take it off.

However, tonight I have found a couple of unique scheduling quirks I noticed in October, first for the league and for Lowell.

There are many more league games in the first two weekends in the season. Usually, HE league games haven't started until say the 20th or so because of tournaments and NC games in early October. There are eight league games between October 7-15 and that's a bit more that I can recall by my memory.

I've heard of unbalanced schedules in the month of October but how's this....

Six nights before Lowell plays its first league game against BC at the Tsongas Center on 10/28, Northeastern will have played 18.5% of its league schedule. That's right, Lowell will have five games in hand on NU by end of the night on 10/22

Well, if their regular season is like their offseason we'll have a whopping 1 point to chase :p

Of course to be honest I've lost touch with who is good and who isn't.... likewise we could just as well squander that 5 game spot.

I bought my season tickets today, a month earlier than last year ... can't wait.

I'll admit I'm excited about quite a few things this year ... 1) seeing the new system play itself out, 2) seeing how the veterans are affected by that system and if it actually helps them play better, and 3) seeing the freshmen and how much they can contribute.

This excitement basically covers my apathy to my Revs right now though.

I'm also looking forward to the season. I just wish they would issue a press release about the incoming recruits. Hopefully everyone shows up.

Speaking of the Revs, I saw a piece on the news about the high school kid that's on the team, only 16 unbelievable. Big game tonight...any predictions?

I'll play:)...

Unfortunately still too far away to get to many games. Will probably only get to one game during the first semester and hopefully a couple during the second semester. Waiting for this year's Center Ice Club flyer to come out.

Looking forward to see:
1) Just like everyone else, the new system. A fast, controlled, and smart game is very fun to watch, especially on the power play.
2) How the sophomores improved since last year. Think Arnold, Pendenza, Ruhwedel, Holmstrom, Carr, and Boulanger can all have excellent seasons, but would love to see any others come up with strong years as well.
3) Wetmore and Vallorani stay healthy and have monster seasons. It seems like a puck posession game plays right to their strengths.
4) Which freshmen contribute right away.
5) Although I'm relatively new to the UML arena, what I've heard from them in the past is that even when they weren't the best team, they were the type of team that would not be out-worked during a game. Interesting to see if Bazin's system makes it so that teams coming to the Tsongas know that if they want to take two points from UML, they're going to have to earn them against a team that will not give up.

From what I've heard, they're just waiting for all the players to get their information to the athletic department so they can put out the press release.

Speaking of the Revs, I saw a piece on the news about the high school kid that's on the team, only 16 unbelievable.
Kid is good, but really needs to gain some weight (125 pounds currently). He's got speed, good dribbler, creative ... and I'm still hoping that he'll have a shot at the US team at some point (not currently a citizen though). He's from Leominster.

The Chicago White Sox have used "All In" this year after increasing payroll to an all-time high. The Red Sox then used this, but have now changed it to "We Won't Rest" for whatever reason.

Anybody else have that nagging concern that our marketing department is turning into a marketing department?

No surprise. According to the Warrior Rink Rat (http://www.warriorrinkrat.com/2011/08/hockey-east-to-announce-fenway-park.html) site, Hockey East and Fenway Sports Group will officially announce the Fenway games (1/7/12) with a press conference Friday at Fenway Park.

I'm going to be ****ed if all Hockey East teams don't get a shot at this, the remaining 4 next season.
