The Quinnipiac Mens Ice Hockey Team will take on the Brown University Bears this weekend in the first round of the men's ECAC playoffs. Game 1 is this Friday, with game 2 on Saturday, and a third game on Sunday if necessary. Quinnipiac squeaked into the last home-ice playoff spot with two ties to end the regular season, so look for them to hoepfully use this to their advantage. The Bobcats went 8-7-2 at home and 5-6-6 on the road during regular season play. These two teams played to ties both times during the regular season, first 3-3 at Brown in November and 2-2 at Quinnipiac on Senior Night.

Quinnipiac ended the final five games of the regular season 0-2-3, ending their regular season record to 13-13-8, stats that do not put much confidence into the Bobcats heading into this weekend. But three of those games were against nationally ranked Yale, Union, and Rensselear, with the other two being Dartmouth and Brown.

Players to watch for the Bobcats:

1. Jeremy Langlois - Sophomore who led the team in goals, and heated up late in the regular season, being the go-to guy offensively for the Bobcats.

2. Eric Hartzell - Sophomore goalie who took the starting job from Dan Clarke and really has shined for the Bobcats this season and has been their most consistent strength. No matter how the defense plays, Hartzell must have a strong series if the Bobcats hope to go deep into the playoffs. He can with the series for the Bobcats or lose it. 10-6-6 on the season.

Sleeper - Yuri Bouharevich - Junior forward who has explosive speed and can move the puck through the neutral zone like the best of em'. 6 G and 11 A on the season.

Brown University had an average season as well, sneaking in to 9th place, just one point behind the Bobcats. They ended the regular season 10-14-5, going 2-2-1. Top scorer Jack Maclellan out for this series, it puts a lot of pressure on other players to fill his shoes, or should I say skates to really push Brown over QU.

Players to watch:

Harry Zolnierczyk - the much-discussed about Senior captain of the Bears must step up and score more than he takes penalties. If he can take as many penalties as he scores, Brown might be in the clear. 16G 15A on the season

Mike Clemente - the Junior goaltender went 8-11-5 on the season with a less than impressive 3.16 GAA. But while the Bobcats rarely scored more than three goals in a game during their end stretch of games, he might see this stat go down.

The last time Quinnipiac and Brown met in the ECAC Hockey Tournament First Round in 2007, the Bobcats swept the home series, 6-7 in overtime and 7-1. In the first game.

Quinnipiac is 8-4-2 in 14 games all-time against Brown. Quinnipiac won seven of the first nine meetings between the two teams, but have posted a 1-2-1 record in their last four meetings. Quinnipiac is 4-1-0 all-time at the TD Bank Sports Center against the Bears and 2-0 all-time in the ECAC Hockey Tournament.

Since joining the league for the 2006-07 season, the Bobcats hold an 16-11 all-time record in the ECAC Hockey Championship tournament. The Bobcats' carry an 10-2 record in the first round of the tournament, including an 8-2 record at the TD Bank Sports Center, while posting a 5-8 mark in quarterfinal games. Quinnipiac is 1-0 in semifinal games and 0-1 in the championship game

Brown enters the ECAC Hockey Tournament First Round with a record of 10-14-5 overall and 8-12-2 in ECAC Hockey play
