Why would guys who might have been national coach of the year once be candidates for greatest coach of all time?

although I have to believe this was a joke to get Maine fans going...
He won the Penrose in in 2002, so by that standard, he's eligible.

I'd say including that as a criteria gives the multiple winners a leg up: Parker (3), Holt (3), Ceglarski (3), Snooks Kelley, Weiland, Riley, Blais, Gwozdecky, Comley.

Holt, Parker and Ceglarski each won multiple awards at the same school (New Hampshire, Boston University and Boston College), but several of the multiple winners got the award for different programs. At least in my mind, that's a bit of extra validation, showing that the coach had an impact, rather than just a position at a program already operating at a high level. Gwozdecky won for Miami and Denver, Ceglarski for Clarkson and Boston College.

Ceglarski, winning a total of 3 times and with two different programs, may be the front-runner there.

              Terry Slater....gone way too soon!
I've been lost since 1989. I got a breakaway on a frozen river and have been skating ever since.

I recall watching Minnesota at the FF in 1986, 88, 94 & 95, all semifinal losses. I recall both the 86 & 88 consolation games and, of course, the 94 & 95 semifinals quite well. I also think the Gophers made it to FF in 87, but I didn't.

you mean no 'formal' scholarships....somehow though good athletes at those schools somehow have financial support from somewhere, eh?

Dorm Crew was always a good way to pay people guaranteed minimal hours for nominal work 'back in the day'.

Yeah, I think I have to consider myself corrected on that one. 1989 must be so burned into my brain I forgot all the others or all the others seemed like earlier exits than they really were.
