Either UNH or Clarkson. Probably UNH.

These threads are often cool, but didn't we just have one last off-season? Why not wait until the next off-season to do another?

Woohoo! I'm happy to see tUMD at #20. I've been expecting to see them since around Yale or so.

These comments are often cool, but why are they made before reading the entire thread? Why not see if your question is answered already before you ask it?

Perhaps you could read the thread and see the explanation FS23 gave?

Or perhaps just not criticize someone else's hard work?

I think seeing BGSU would be the most interesting, and just edging UMD again would just be a bonus.

There's just something fitting about that razor thin victory a quarter century ago making for another razor thin victory here.

Plus, the extra twists of the knife that rankings like this produce are part of the fun.

There has been a lot of parity in college hockey over the last 5 years, and Quarterfinal and Frozen Four spots are going to teams that have never been in that position before. The next shoe to fall is when a National Championship goes to a team that has never won before. The last time we had a first time champion was in 1993. I expect that we get a new champion in the next 4-5 years, if not sooner.

Sitting at #19 is New Hampshire. The Wildcats have posted an impressive 20 NCAA Appearances, along with 7 trips to the Frozen Four. Twice UNH has found itself playing for the National Championship, and was closest to winning it all in 1999, but fell in overtime to Maine. The Wildcats have done just about everything a program can do besides win it all. New Hampshire will have a chance this year, as it looks like UNH has itself set up for another NCAA bid. If they can do that, expect the Wildcats to move up the list.

Is hopes-and-dreams-dashed a factor in the equation? That would really boost the alma mater.
Me: ...but why would anyone want to vacation here? There are better mountains in NH and VT, beaches in Cape Cod and RI, and colonial landmarks in Mass and CT.

Boss: You've got it all wrong. It's Vacationland because nobody would ever want to live here for more than a week.

Being undefeated would definitely boost their ranking.
