The cold weather may not make driving very palatable, but good luck with that.

Let's go Beavers!! Make it happen this weekend!
I don't know why, but I did forget about that. My parents stay at the Hampton every time they come to visit, and there is someting like a $10-20 a night premium on "lakeview" rooms...

And a final note on "supply and demand." Not only is the Hampton sold out, but the other 5 hotels are too. When was the last time Duluth, St. Cloud or Minneapolis sold out its entire inventory of hotel rooms for a weekend? Unfortunatly, it happens frequently here, and will continue at least until those two new hotels open...

I can stay in downtown Mpls at a 4 star hotel for less than the cost to stay in Bemidji by using Priceline or Hotwire. I'm driving back and forth both days. Whoever is running the Hampton needs to get their act together. You can stay anywhere in the league at a comparable hotel for much much less than the Hampton in Bemidji. In Omaha the Marriott is $99 and the Hilton is $92. Hell, I can stay for less than that in Colorado Springs and in Denver.
I think they're getting pretty uppity up there in Bemidji. We're camping out rather than get boned up the rear by those uppity high prices.

I look forward to this series very much as a lot of people do. It's been quite awhile since there has been a mens hockey game here in Bemidji and my understanding is that Saturdays game this weekend is sold out! Any conformation on this? I hope the Beavers keep playing well and hand the Huskies a sweep! I think it will be two great games though!

You can stay in Walker for about $75 a night. Not a bad drive.

Hmmm, my family got into the Hampton for around $99 a night. But then again, we booked our rooms back when the schedule first came out.

Also, you could stay at the casino in Cass Lake (20 minute drive, tops) or there is a new casino/hotel on the south end of the Red Lake Reservation just north a west of Bemidji on Highway 89.

Like everyone else said, it is supply and demand. This weekend, the demand was high, so up goes the rates!

Or stay in Blackduck (20 miles north) or Cass Lake (Palace Casino @ 15 miles east), each ~ $80 a night. You're not trying very hard if you only looked at two places...

edit - I just checked Hotels.com, and the Holiday Inn and Quality Inn look like they have had some cancelations, so you could get in for $110-115, but since you wanted to complain, rather than book early like Millsy did, it's gonna cost you more...

You can also check some of the resorts. Ruttger's Birchmont Lodge on the north end of Lake Bemidji usually has rooms in the winter... Again - you're not trying very hard if you only looked at two places...

Re: St. Cloud State @ Bemidji State, The Husky Beaver series in Bemidji

I'm just making a point. And, the point is going to a game in Bemidji (txs + lodging) and staying IN Bemidji is more expensive than most anywhere in the league. The Hampton is drilling people and would NOT drop their price less than $149 for a group rate for SCSU's Center Ice Club. And, they called early. I know of a large legion of hardcore SCSU fans that simply are NOT making the trip and will watch the game on TV. These same people are going to Omaha and Duluth.

A 2.5 hour drive is very manageable. Until Bemidji gets its hospitality situation to a manageable level it'll certainly hurt overnights. Most fans don't want to drive to Black Duck or Red Lake or Walker.

Staying at a cabin at a resort is not camping out.

I think a good part of what you ran into there is that the Hampton didn't want to lower prices when they were already getting rack rate from SCSU and Minn State, plus maybe some Squirt parents. They were good either way, and as it turns out, they end up just fine - sold out.

Oh, the town is very well aware of the problem the lack of hotel rooms is creating. If you read my earlier post, there are two planned hotels (another Holiday Inn attached to the Sanford Center and a Doubletree next to the Hampton) that are, last I heard, set to break ground once the grond thaws. Now, if it stays -35 like it was this morning, that could take a while

Re: St. Cloud State @ Bemidji State, The Husky Beaver series in Bemidji

Most fans want a block of rooms at the SAME hotel. They want to socialize before and after the game (close to the hotel) and in this day and age DO NOT want to jump in their car after they've had a few adult beverages and drive 20 miles. It's not a good thing to do. For fan groups you need to keep the rate at $99 or less or you get a drop off in interest. Fans want to be close to the rink. There are exceptions but for the most part this is how it works.

And by the way, I have a $113 rate at the Saint Paul Hotel for the WCHA FF.

Maybe I'm just protesting because it is out of wack in Bemidji. Don't take it personal. Until you get added hospitality space you are not maximizing the out of town dollar. You're just going to have to take my word on it because I know lots of people NOT making the trip. You are competing with Duluth and Omaha (upcoming venues) and in this economy fans will make choices. And, there is a helluva lot more to do in Omaha and Duluth so you have to compete harder.

The WCHA website cites TV-LPTV as broadcasting the games. I have no idea what that means.

Enough of the hotel / lodging talk. Eddy is back and this should be a great series. Where is Oslund tonight? Is he a healthy scratch?

Like last year this time, it is time for the Husckeys to shine! I predict they chase the Polack from the net and Sweep the series.

I'm going to make it very easy for you. Lakeland producrs the games.

Go to the Center Ice Club web site: www.center-ice-club.org

scroll down to the SCSU Men's Hockey box.

                              Click TPT

On the TPT site click "Where to Find Us"

This lists all the channel numbers for the various cable systems etc.

                              Now, you can thank me....

You are bragging about splitting with the gophers last year? I never said bsu never earned a ncaa bid. I am saying let's see if they get one now.
