Does there need to be a school attached to a bid? Or could the Dallas Stars say "hey, lets put together a bid for the Frozen 4!"?

If I remember correctly, St. Louis was hosted by the CCHA with no particular school attached.

This sport should embrace the areas of the country that embrace it for the Frozen Four. Putting it in yahoo-towns like Nashville is pointless. Boston, Denver, St. Paul, Detroit, and Milwaukee should be the only towns that host this event. The southern rednecks can have NASCAR, we can have college hockey. Let's just keep it that way.Boston? The city that "embraces" college hockey by not being able to put together a reasonable bid? Detroit? Whose idea of a suitable venue is a football field?

Didn't the NCAA approach Ford Field? Or was it really a Detroit idea?

I think it was a Tom Anastos idea.

I think it was a Tom Anastos idea.

According to the FF Highlight DVD, the owners of the Detroit Lions were instrumental in organizing the event. Makes me think it was at least partially their idea.

An idea that bad could have only come from Detroit.

Yes, only go to the places where it is already known and popular. NEVER try to expose new areas and new fans to college hockey. That's a bad idea.

An unreasonable bid in Boston, is better than most reasonable bids in other places. The history of college hockey and the Frozen Four in Boston speak for themselves.

That said, Detroit sucked.

True, but at least Navy is fairly creditable as a school that's rumored to add hockey. Texas, ehh, I'll believe that when they hold the press conference with the Mr. Moneybags donor there to smile for the cameras.
UTSA has put in a bid to host at the (then) SBC Center in San Antonio. You don't need to have anything to do with hockey to host.

Nashville would be great. It's a crazy town with neon dreams.:D

Well, obviously I videotaped it, so I could sell it online. I tried to up the production value with different angles and zooming in occasionally.
