  • 2010 WJC final selection roster announced

The prelim roster came out and it looks solid+. To many under age players but you would ahve expected that as USA hockey is obsessed with their dev program kids and forcing them on to teams.

The big mistake I feel they made was leaving Torey Krug from Michigan State off the roster.

He is only the second sophmore ever at state to be named the captain, a tremendous leader on and off the ice and a perfect addition to this team.

He was all CCHA rookie team last year and led all D rookies in scoring in the conference. Was an all star in the USL and led the Indiana Ice to the championship there as well. Played one season and had over 45 points as a dman. As a 17 year old....

This year he is the captain and is 2nd on team in scoring with 16 points in 17 games, very good numbers for anyone, especially a dman and young one in a tough conference.

Has always been a winner, won natl championships with Honey bake and Belle Tire as well as Indiana.

great player, did everything possible to be given a shot and did not so because of their obsession with natl program, BC and political kids.

If anyone thinks Samuelson for example is a better addition, I would be willing to debate it. Samuelson was at camp last year and again this yeart, cut early both times and has done nothing at BC to show he deserves another shot. It is not a Krug vs Samuelson deabte but it is a glaring example of kids being there because of politics and schools they play for

It is wrong and simply shows USA hockey is all about winning but winning with their chosen ones, not the best ones.

I'm disappointed The Prince made the roster and therefore won't be around for the UND-U18 game.

There are still final cuts to be made, right?

I really don't think Samuelsson will make the final roster when all is said and done.

He didnt do anything to deserve another shot

Leaving off Krug says it all about USA hockey.

Would Krug be getting PP time over Leddy, Faulk, or Clendening? I doubt it, and if so, there's really no other reason to take him.

He is better than Clendening and Faulk on the PP, in my opinion. The 92's can have their go at it next year. He shoukld have been at camp. If wasnt one of top 10, go back to State. But to do everything he has done and to keep forcing players like Samuelson down everyones throat is a farce.

He is not a PP specialist either but a very good two way player. had bext plus minus of all freshmen D last year in league as well as led USHL in +/- in playoffs the previous year when they won the championship with Indiana.
There is no chance he would not be a top 4-6 on this team.

Oh, I don't know, there's a whole slew of gold medals from about 11 months ago that speak volumes.

i dont think for a second that samuelsson will make the team; nor do i doubt that USA hockey plays politics too much in these selections... but i am missing this obvious connection you seem to think exists between samuelsson and usa hockey.

is it because he played on the u-18 team? even then, he was the only guy on that roster not from ann arbor.

That's fine if that is your opinion, but you have recognize that virtually no one else shares that opinion, making it not that much of an outrage that USA Hockey went in the direction they did. It would have been an outrage if they went the other way.

After that, there's a need for size and physicality that's going to have to be addressed with that fifth and sixth defensive spot. That's not something a maybe 5'9" puck mover is going to bring to the table.

Is Clendening a lock to make it? The reason I ask is because in the few games I've seen of him, he hasn't looked good in his own end.

I dont think so but he is one of their guys and has had very good success on their teams. I have not seen it either this year and dont believe for a second he is one of the top 2 or 3 guys for the PP spot, especially as a 92 on a 91 year etam. Krug would be a much better choice.

he is a coin flip who they will probably use a double headed coin(with them of course calling it) to get him on board and ready for the next year. USA natl dev team is obsessed with their guys getting drafted and they know having him there will help that. that will 100% factor into it
