    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...enn-cunningham

    We all realize what a close call Jesse had. But when it comes to rehabbing from his injury, I've found myself thinking about Glenn Cunningham.
    2011 Poser of the Year & Pulitzer Prize winning machine gunner.

          JESSE MARTIN: “I’m really excited to be back in Denver, just to see my teammates and everyone who has been supporting me so much. I’m real excited to be able to thank each and every person, in-person. There is a little bit of a comfort zone there. It’s going to be a great experience to come back, and again, I’m just real excited to see all my teammates and friends, and really thank them from the bottom of my heart.”
          Full story on Jesse's return in Mike Chambers Blog.

          Information on Jesse's 2PM MT press conference tomorrow from DU website.

            Front page story on American prodigy Jason Zucker by Mike Chambers in today's Denver Post.

            Gwoz talking about Jason

            "He has a tremendous skill set," DU coach George Gwozdecky said. "He's a strong skater, he's got a quick release, he can be physical, and he plays with an edge and emotion that is certainly conducive to our other guys."

            From the DU website

            Redshirt junior forward Dustin Jackson could make his season debut this weekend. Jackson has not played since 2008-09.

                Front page of the sports section. But we'll take it. It's a well written story, and helps to mitigate the reality of our game stories appearing on page 14 of the sports section.

                  DU Hockey has been getting plenty of good stories and placement this year in the Post. I think the turning point occurred in the second half of last season. Chambers Blog has also been a huge resource, giving our fans a deeper glimpse into the inner workings of the DU hockey program.

                  Game stories are not as important as player profiles since most people who are interested have already read the recaps online.

                  One thing that hurts college hockey in the mainstream media is not having a simple standardized way of posting standings. The CCHA has the shootouts, then there's the regular season record, the conference record, Pairwise and finally the Polls.

                  At the end of the day, the future amount of DU hockey coverage in the Post is going to be guided by those stats at the bottom of each article. For instance the Zucker article today.

                  This article is the:

                  * 44th most-clicked article of the hour
                  * 48th most-clicked article of the day
                  * 42nd most-clicked article among Colorado readers of the day
                  * 45th most-clicked article among Colorado readers of the hour
                  * 49th most-clicked article among readers outside Colorado of the day
                  * 41st most-clicked article among readers outside Colorado of the hour
                  * 41st most-clicked article among Denver readers
                  * 19th most-clicked article among sports articles today
                  * Back to the top

                    I think game stories in the paper are still an important indicator of visibility of the program. Yes, true DU fans already know the score and the details from online, but to the casual Denver sports fan, if the DU stories are always in the back of the sports section on page 14, the message the Post is sending is that DU hockey is of marginal importance. Every front page placement we get in the Post for any DU story is an validation/endorsment that DU hockey is worth reading about, and it's great to see the Post giving us some midweek feature play.

                    In the newspaper, page placement matters more, and since the hard copy paper readers don't "click" the story, it's harder to measure who actually reads it....In the online edition, most people click direct to the stories by interest category or bookmark, rather than scan a whole bunch of stories like you would in the hard copy paper. In other words, front page placement online means less than it would in the paper...

                      DU d-man recruit Scott Mayfield turning heads with the International Scouting Services for the upcoming draft. Hockey's Future reports on the Top 30 players for November. Here is what they say about Mayfield.

                      Scott Mayfield, D, Youngstown Phantoms
                      The big blueliner has been turning heads in every rink he has played in so far this year. A hulking strong defender Mayfield moves extremely well and already has the look of a top level pro. Mayfield will represent the USHL at the World Junior A Challenge in Penticton, BC and will gain even more exposure to NHL scouts. His ability to play in all ends of the rink and be an impact player in all situations will certainly move his name way up the draft list. Few players have the maturity and ability to adapt to the different styles and emotions that a game takes on, Mayfield can without missing a beat. With Mayfield already looking so strong the question will be how much better can he get, but as far as this year’s prospects go there are few players that are this ready for the NHL already.
