Well that sucked!! I thought CC looked very good, DU a bit on their heals in the first period and Howe was great. It looked like a very evenly played game, I didn't hear the SOG stat, it must have been pretty close. Meanwhile , what happened to our score update thread and for that matter the website?? Good thing it was on TV. I expect DU to win tonight and I don't know about you guys, but I have more confidence in Brittain. Should be a great game, I wish I could be there!!

Sorry you can't be there Dmann. This series is fun. I actually like having it now instead of in March. I have full confidence in Sam. I think it's time for Gwoz to cut the crap with the rotation game. Murray is not going to be able to take this team where it has the potential to go. Especially when we have a D group that turns the puck over--got to have a wall in the net. Murrary's a decent goalie just not star caliber. A buddy of mine says he's playing him so he doesn't jump ship--which may be a valid point. Still, is the goal to win the whole enchilada or not?

I think bye weeks hurt you more than they help you. DU looked predictably rusty last night early, and CC pounced on that in the first period. I am willing to give DU a mulligan for the first period. After the first, DU got their legs going, but it just wasn't enough to get past the Tigers on their home ice. Both teams skated well and created chances. The turning point was the Krushelnyski breakaway - DU had been playing well and pressuring CC, but a blown outlet coverage by DU and a perfect picked-corner shot by Krushelnyski made the hill a bit too high for DU.

I hope to see a three-period strong performance tonight by the Pioneers on home ice. This is a trophy game tonight, and it will be interesting to see how the Pioneers respond to the challenge and defend home ice. Tonight is a big character test for the Pioneers, and it should tell us a lot about who they are..Expect to see a more tightly played, physical game on the NHL sheet.

Is that all you got? Wait, let me answer my own question: YES.

Yep--pretty typical banter, intoxicated or straight. I ran into some of it down there too. It will be nice to be home tonight--there we can contain them to the rafters in section 2,999. Maybe we should start a frickin thread for them so the two of them can have their senseless chat in private. What shall we call it? How about: The difference between a slump and a tradition: 54 years of hockey mediocrity. Did you see all the participation banners they have hanging at the WA?

Watching those two dumbells on CBS last night, combined with not being able to post on the scoring thread gave me a major case of gas. I can only assume their lack of preparation for the game stemmed from not having read Bacher's game notes. Otherwise it wouldn't have come as a "surprise" to them that Murray was a "last minute starter." Over and over and over again. These two simpletons finally figured out "why" Murray was starting on Friday and Sammy on Saturday, Sammy had been in the nets when we got shelled earlier in the season and evidently been scarred for life, or something.

Oh, and that particular drubbing was mentioned also, over and over and over again, especially when CC scored twice in the first, amid continuous speculation that history was about to repeat itself. No mention whatsoever about the context of the game, coming as it did so soon after Jesse's injury, possible death and uncertainty (then) about whether or not he would face life long deficits. Nah, just another Saturday night in the Springs, nothing to see here, move along. Speaking of Jesse, his class and dignity in responding to some of the most profoundly stupid questions in the history of sport, was a breath of fresh air.

CC played a great first period, while DU looked like the backstrokers in the Milky Way caramel only commercials. Better do better tonight.

Oh no sir, I have plenty more for tonight. Should be a great environment and it is a privilege to watch these two teams play. This is the way it should be, the fourth and final game with the Gold Pan up for grabs! Fully expect DU to have their A game tonight. Hope co14ers can make it to the game.

Friend, I'll be sitting 12 rows behind the CC bench at World Arena North tonight which in most arena's is prime location for home team fans, in this case chances are high I'll be surrounded by more Tiger fans then Pioneers fans. And for the record, I will run into the same stuff tonight that you did last night. But I've got balls (per the DU fans) so I don't complain about it like you do sir. Maybe it is time you grow some?

Allowing all those CC fans into Magness is an anti-crime measure. And let's be honest, what is there to do on a Saturday night in the Springs except take polaroids of the Dakota hogback or sing along in the Golden Bee or search for that special someone at a Hairclub for Men mixer? But while you're enjoying our hospitality, let your eyes drift up to the rafters, where you'll see lots and lots of natonal championship banners, some of which are less than half a century old, if you can believe it.

Nice W for the boys tonight. Slow start like last night but a great finish to the first and a solid performance the rest of the way home. CC goes 0-10 on the PP for the weekend. DU was able to get much better looks at the net tonight. The MERMIS lights it up with a blue collar effort. Cool to have four of the five goals scored by CO natives to retain the Pan. Nice to have the split and have the Tigers over and done with for the season. On to to Gopher Land. Hopefully we have a total of three trip to the twin cities left on the calendar while CC plays golf. UNO claws back from 3-0 to beat the Cloudies tonight they are hanging touch--just a few points out of first.

Look at the top of the CCHA--serious log jam. Right now Miami is sitting at 16th in the PWR and would be out without the auto bid.

1 Notre Dame 22 13-6-3 3 45 77-59 30 16-9-5 110-85
2 Miami 24 13-7-4 1 44 85-52 30 16-9-5 108-70
3 Michigan 22 14-7-1 0 43 68-45 30 17-9-4 98-71

Then there's the WCHA. Holy cow any of these teams could win the conference. Nebraska Omaha is the sleeper and 15th in the PWR. Some serious "goals for" (first number in last column) on both lists. Denver has the "lowest" at 94. Very good chance that all of these teams will make it to the tourney. I wouldn't want to play any of them in the first round.

1 Denver 20 13-4-3 29 70-51 28 17-6-5 94-72
Minnesota-Duluth 20 13-4-3 29 66-43 27 18-5-4 95-63
3 North Dakota 20 14-6-0 28 70-49 29 19-8-2 106-72
4 Nebraska-Omaha 20 12-6-2 26 67-49 28 16-10-2 95-69
5 Wisconsin 20 11-7-2 24 56-41 30 19-8-3 103-60

Here's a stat from the Duluth game tonight against the Gophers. Mike Connolly scored five goals and Jack Connolly added four assists as No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth held off Minnesota, 6-4. That line has got to be the best in CH. Fontaine the other guy on the line probably got the sixth goal.

Wow, interesting ride home tonight with plenty of snow on the road and cars in the ditch. Anyway, just wanted to share what a great two game series that was again! May the DU vs CC rivalry live forever!! I don't know about the rest of you but boy this fan had a great time both nights! Thanks DU fans. Todd, get well buddy!!

Alright, one more post before I hit the rack. Why are we rotating our goalies when Sam has the second best save percentage in the conference at .925 and Adam would be about 20th at .875? Sam is about 13th in the county and Adam if he made the list (doesn't because of lack of starts) would be 71st.

He certainly did nothing wrong this weekend to warrant discontinuing the rotation.

Murray has 5 wins 2 losses on the season. Losses at CC on Friday & BC in Magness, both times DU played like crap.

Both have played decently, but neither one has been a show-stopper of late. Murray definitely has his issues with rebound control and fighting the puck, while Sam has been letting in Fisher-like early softies since the rotation was established. Would like to see one of the two really heat up down the stretch and take the #1 job.

With the Gold Pan in hand we deserve the first page!

BTW, just saw the replay of the Mermis goal. 155 takes on 210 and WINS!
