I've actually warmed up to the idea a bit after my initial anger. Now that I'm down in NYC (not Schenectady), the trip isn't that bad and I decided to rent a house with 10 other college friends. It will be nice to have some stuff to do down there other than watching hockey. The casinos and bars/clubs should be a good time but I'm still wondering if the overall attendance will suffer because of the long distance from every school except Princeton. The ECAC tourney was in Lake Placid from 1993-2002 and after that, it was in Albany from 2003-2009. Albany is basically about 3 hours away from every school in the ECAC (except much closer for Union and RPI) so the location was great in terms of convenience, but the actual city was not too much fun for visiting fans.

Anyway, would you mind telling me what the chances are of me seeing Union in Bridgeport/Manchester/Green Bay/St. Louis? I think last week you mentioned that they could miss the tournament and I'm wondering if that changed after the games this weekend. Thanks.
LET'S GO UNION DA DA DADADA

I don't really care too much about being #1 overall.

So long as we're a #1 seed, I'll be pleased.

The ECAC still has a consolation game, right?

Edit: I only ran Union's side of the bracket, but the lowest I could get them was 10th. They do that by losing to Quinnipiac in the QF or by beating either Qn or Bn and then losing both games in Atlantic City.
        God that sounds so wrong.

I think so, but since it is in AC, they are just going to spin the roulette wheel with appropriate team colors to determine the winner.

I'm pretty sure they've already locked up a #1 seed. They may not catch Yale, but with their RPI and TUC record, it would take something unusual for them to be passed by three teams. Just don't lose to Tech and you'll be OK.

What does Michigan need to do (or what else has to happen) to clinch a 1? Would winning the CCHA tourney be enough?

So umm what would be the ideal host city of the ECAC Championship? Just curious.

Here is the script for the ECAC and CCHA playoffs. By default the higher seed wins every game. To have the lower seed win a game, change the 0 to a 2.

To add a third game to QF rounds: Change game 1 to the lower seeded team winning, copy either game 1 or game 2 (depending on who you want to win).
To have lower seeded team win a series: Change the 0 to a 2 for both games (or 2 of 3).
Remember to change subsequent rounds to reflect the upset. If Colgate upsets RPI, remember to change the QF match to Cg v Un.
                      The date is not important.

Refresh my memory, how was that done? I vaguely remember as a kid watching both the ECAC and HE championship games on NESN...at the old Garden. Were the HE/ECAC semis all at the Garden as well? When did this end?

Unfortunately, with the majority of ECAC schools being in NY, I assume their best options are still in New York.

I was still in High School, I think, and I can't even remember the details, to be honest, and its not realistic in the least, but from a fan living an hour from Boston, selfishly, it would be awesome to see so much tournament hockey

It was called HockeyFest and the ECAC semis were on Thursday, Hockey East on Friday then the ECAC finals Saturday afternoon and the Hockey East finals at night. We joked that it was like in high school, where the JV plays then the Varsity plays

I think the ECAC wanted a prime time showcase, and to get away from Hockey East. Unfortunately for them, that meant leaving the only major media market and population center available (yes, NYC is in the area, but hardly available or ideal).

When was the last year of this? I believe the last ECAC game at the Garden I remember involved a title game featuring St. Lawrence...
