C'mon now, to be fair, a bunch of those people NEVER showed up.

Show a little respect! Those people have names! They are called the Minnesota Golden Gopher Men's hockey team.

How many Gopher players are injured? Two or three?

Four. Two with mono, one with the flu, and one due to moped accident, IIRC. I think we skated 19 total tonight.

I agree with the death of Pride On Ice. And for some reason, I'm satisfied it came against the Badgers. At least it was a rival, and not some joke team like AIC, if that makes any sense.

A few comments about the game:

Zengerle's pass on second goal was awesome. *He actually bounced it off the back of the net. Unbelievable.

Smith's on the third was nice also. *

Badgers first penalty was due to laziness, but why was it on Zengerle? *It was very clear it was on Murray.

Nice effort tonight Badgers.

After some deep meditation and reflecting, and for those who know me you know what a significant statement this is,

tArrogance is dead. Pride On Ice is dead. I'll never leave the bandwagon, but my faith is gone.

wow...

I've been to a lot of gopher games at the mooch and that game flat out depressed me and I'm not even a gopher fan. 5 minutes in I knew the badgers would win. The defense was horrible. Atmosphere was horrible...fans were leaving halfway through the second. Quite a few empty seats...for the badgers?! Come on! Passing was horrible. I credit wisconsin for losing a ton of talent off of last year's team and remaining relevant. Eaves can coach. I'm convinced the problem right now is not with the talent on the team but the leadership at the top. Who were lucia's assistants at CC and alaska? I'm now thinking that his success had more to do with them than his abilities. There is no ying and yang with those coaches. Hill and lucia are clones and it's not working. It's going to be hard for me to go to sleep after that nightmare.

Whatever.

You guys will rattle off a couple of wins, probably against Tech and their sensitive fans, and then you'll see hope, and then you'll right back here telling us how your state produces all of our players an on and on and on...

You'll be back. I'm sure of it and part of me would be sad to see it any other way. Even though I hate each and every one of you.

That was a poor effort last night though. I've only seen one other game against us where a Gopher team just didn't seem to care and that was the Final Five third place game in 06. This was worse than that though.

Where was Baribal? (sp?)

N. Larson is out with an injury as well.

Pat White - Flu
Zach Budish - Knee (out for the year)
N. Larson - Not sure what the injury is but it's lasted a few weeks.
Parenteau - Mono
Bjugstad - Mono

As for we'll be back. Whatever. That's probably the same thing they said about the football team in the late 60's. We're still waiting.

Quit being so dramatic and borderline pathetic.

Quit being so dramatic and borderline pathetic.

Why? Why should my actions be better than the Gopher Hockey Team?

EDIT: Did you fork out 70 bucks to watch that crap?

EDIT2: I've been arguing for the past two years that there is NOT a recruiting problem at Minnesota. I'm starting to change my mind.

EDIT3: Oh, and regarding what you said on GPL about leaving early. I didn't leave early. I never do.

Holy crap. I am glad my kid had practice last night so he didn't have to witness that debacle. Well, maybe it would be a good teaching moment. "See the way the Gopher are playing is how NOT to play the game. Coast into the puck instead of moving your feet, don't support the puck quickly, don't battle hard on the boards, let the opponent come away clean with the puck every time."

BADgers played well. Gophers played like crap. No desire. No effort. No heart.

I am baffled by three years of this crap. Did Lucia recruit kids with no heart, or do these coaches not know how to instill a work ethic? I know the Gophers have been short on physical play for years and haven't had guys willing to battle in the slot. But they have had quick guys who would hustle to the puck and move up and down the ice. These guys coast to every puck, can't connect a pass to save their lives and get outworked on every play.

I forked out $35. I'd do it again. I love gopher hockey. I just love being in maroosh watching. Winning is a big part of the experience but not the only part. You seem like a great guy when they're winning but you toe the line with borderline suicidal posts when they lose.

Edit: Great! I'm glad you don't leave early. There may be hope for you in the end :D :D :D

No. I don't care if they lose. I care if they bother to show up. I've seen the last (4) years many many times there and on TV where they don't even need to be bothered about playing with any effort at all.

I've seen two of the worst games I've ever seen in the my life the last two weeks. Both of them I was there and am now 140 bucks poorer because of it.

Caution: This post may contain some positive content about the current Gopher season please keep women, children and Scooby far away.

Like I said on GPL IF they can come out and win tonight they will have won 4 out of there last 5 games and then have Bye week and Tech. Both are not easy teams to play against but maybe we can get healthy and steal some points.

In WCHA play at home they have had their asses handed to them in 4 out of 5 games.

I still have hope for a successful season, but I don't have faith that MN is gonna be the MN of old. You say "I'll be back?" I already said I refuse to leave the bandwagon. I can't come back if I never left.

And like Scooby said: if they lose, fine. If they lose because they don't give a sh* about putting forth any sort of effort? F* that sh*.

I'll be watching tonight, hoping for a split. That really sucks to say. I wish I could be saying "I'll be watching tonight, expecting the sweep."

That last sentence pretty much sums up on where I stand on this team.
