It will be very interesting to see how this goes this year and moving forward. Historically those series (plus UND) were the marquee "must see" events at the Glas, but that was also the days of multiple series vs. UAH, RMU and Niagara... Now that those teams will come in regularly, we'll see how demand is.

I disagree completely. First off, Bemidji area fans will have more interest in any and or all of those teams than certainly UAA, NMU, CC and UNO, and truthfully, more interest than Denver and MTU as well. Then add in proximity and traveling fans will boost attendance as well.

That remains to be seen, but it's not a good sign that week two of the building being open, and it might not be a sell-out...

Let me clarify. They certainly will bring in more than other teams. But not as much as say UND and UMTC. I just feel like the UMD and or SCSU fan bases are a lot smaller than UND, UMTC.

But agreed it will be interested to see if they lower the prices (or at least keep them steady) when they do not sell out enough games.

A friend of mine called the ticket office yesterday and was told there were "a lot" of tickets remaining for this weekend. He bought seats 14 rows up on the red line. After fees each ticket came to $42! He said it'll be his first and last trip to Sanford Center. That is outrageous.

FYI, folks should pay attention when buying tickets, and rather than selecting "Any Price," pick what you want. Now, the student tickets at $9.55 ($5 + 4.55 fee) aren't available, but those $42 tickets weren't his only option - he could have paid $5 less for sitting in the corners or ends or even $10 per ticket less by selecting the family section (no alcohol)...

I am pretty ******ed off about the ticket prices, too. If the arena was so expensive that they need to charge ridiculous prices like that, then perhaps they shouldn't have built it. I am still going because I have a free place to stay and I'm only going one night, but that's sick. These tickets are more than any school other than UND or UMTC, and Bemidji isn't anywhere near their league. Definitely will not be going there again.

Sorry, but $32 is still too much.

Drive to Bemidji and buy at the box office then - that saves you the $7 fees, and it's just $25 (or $20 for UAA, CC, NMU and UNO)

It seems all teams are inflating prices for tier 1 and tier 2 rivals. They'll keep doing it as long as they keep cashing in. I think there's still 400 or so seats for Friday, so maybe they're not cashing in . . . and need to reduce prices by $5-10?

That is what most WCHA teams are doing, breaking the teams into tiers, and in Bemidji, they have three (Gophers, the Minnesota Schools, and the rest, wonder where Wisco would have fit in if they came to Bemidji, probably tier 1). If UND would have had tickets available, I do believe they would have been in the Gopher series tier.

To me, I do feel that they are probably too high, especially with ~1200 seats available for the weekend. Like Moose, it is a little concerning that this will be the second series in the Sanford Center and it will probably not be a sell out.

And Runninwiththedogs, if you are p***ed with the Sanford Center ticket prices and I am a season ticket holder, can I be p***ed about Amsoil's ticket prices, even though you are a season ticket holder. I mean, it is not like the Dogs are Minnesota or North Dakota.

My .02 worth is that I also think the prices are too high for Bemidji. It is what it is though. A new arena and a new conference come with a price.

By not selling out this weekend it is evident that there is something going on. Big picture - if the team struggles this season and next season or the season after that and so forth then there are going to be issues. Big issues. Less and less people are going to want to spend that kind of money on it. It might be a stretch but look at what losing has done to the Gopher base at Mariucci or TCF Bank Stadium for that matter. The cure? Just win baby! Winning cures many ailments.

BSU sweeps the pups from Duluth! But thanks for playing and a big thank you to the UMD fans for spending the money to see the azz kicking

Here's a link to Sports In The Round 10/27 podcast. I believe there's an interview with UMD's Sandy along with BSU coaches and some info on the BREC's merchandise store, the Beaver Dam. However, the podcast hasn't been updated on their website (as of 9:15) . . .

IMHO, there will be a few bumpy stretches for Beaver hockey over the next two years (2011-12 and 2012-13) until they get on par with other WCHA school's recruiting. It had to have been a challenge to get quality recruits a few years ago with the conference, barn and program in doubt. So I think the next two years will reflect that.

It will be interesting to see the amount of "loyal/traditional hockey fans vs. bandwagon/going to check out the BREC fans" over the course.
