Nice win for the Hawks. Powerplay was humming and they played with good tempo. I like seeing Miami play faster and so far this season, they've started that way.
Quite honestly, I think a Mites team's power play would hum against NMU's PK units right now.

Unfortunately, I fell asleep following the 1st intermission. Dang flu. But things were well in hand at 1-0. Miami was playing very loose. I think i saw maybe 1 NMU S.O.G.
        Long live the "Brotherhood"!!!!!

Giving up a home run in Great American Ballpark is kind of like walking into a chocolate factory and yelling "I WANNA BE FAT!!!"

It's going to happen. Just give it time.....and a little effort.

The penalty kill is the biggest thing we need to work on, almost all our GA this year have been on the PK

Haven't seen any other NMU games to know, but Miami's power play has been dominant this year in the early going. I honestly don't think they could keep this pace up but it is tops in the country by a wide margin, so I wouldn't be too hard on them after last night.

NMU had some quality scoring chances, but Reichard was on his A game last night. First all around team performance last night of the year. Saw spurts of it against SCSU on saturday night but boy they looked really good last night.

Camper with another 3 pts for 12 in the first 5 games which is tremendous and Miele looked to break out last night with 4 pts. If those two together are going well this team is hard to stop.

Reid played well in net for NMU last night, that should be a bright spot for NMU this year.

Yep, Walt's but thas been saved in years past because of his PK. He has always coached undisciplined teams. This year his glaring inneffectiveness as a coach is on full display.

Once again you put your vast hockey knowledge on display. Last year and in 07-08, the Cats were in the middle of the pack in the CCHA in penalty minutes. in 08-09 they had the 3rd FEWEST PIMs in the league. As for the three 5 minute majors against NMU this year, two were plainly bad calls, as was the one against Tech's Brett Olson. And I wonder if Walt had anything to do with the success of the penalty kill in that time.

With the NCAA as a whole cracking down on contact to the head, you are going to see a lot of bad 5 min major calls this season. The one with Kaunisto at Tech is probably the worst 5 min major call Ive seen.

Boy what an emotional night. NMU really had no chance after Weber's injury, but Miami put on an offensive display tonight. Tough game for NMU all around, Miami played really really well.

More important thing is Will Weber is stable. the skate missed his corroded artery but caught his corroded vein. He lost a lot of blood but was awake on the way to the hospital. He was air cared down to cincinnati to the truma center where he will undergo surgery tonight.

Glad to hear he is doing "alright" considering the circumstances. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse. Hopefully a speedy recovery for him.

As for the game, NMU has a lot of work to do. Large disparity from the top of the CCHA to mid pack where NMU should finish this year. NMU has tOSU, LSSU, and Bowling Green coming in the next three weeks.

It's good to hear Will is stable and after what it could have been, alive!! My thoughts and prayers go out to him for a speedy recovery and to his friends, family, and the Miami hockey program. The team has had some big heartbreaks on and off the ice the past few seasons!! The one good thing is Miami has lots of quality guys with good character and lots of team chemistry, they really use and feed off of each other and turn tragedies into victories in life and on the ice. Adding another horrific event like this will surely motivate the guys as other events have in the past. Look out LSSU next weekend and the rest of the CCHA over the next few months!!

So what happened to Weber? Was another player knocked over and a flailing skate got him or was he knocked down to the ice?

The way it sounded from Dave on the radio is that he was tossing Fox to the ice, and Fox's skate came up and caught him.
