  • Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

For the first time all season, the Vees lose back to back games, and they're in trouble in the tournament.

UML recruit Connor Hellebuyck was named to the 2011-12 All-NAHL Team. Connor was also voted the NAHL Goaltender and Rookie of the Year along with UConn recruit Robert Nichols.
The NAHL had the rarest of situations this season as both Connor Hellebuyck and Robert Nichols received the same number of votes for both the Rookie of Year award and the Brian's Goaltender of the Year awards, therefore both were honored.

Hadn't realized that ex-Lowell player Robert Visca is also playing in the RBC.

It looks like he had a nice season for Woodstock.

Big 2-1 win for Penticton keeps them alive in the RBC Cup. They need a win tonight to make it to the semifinals.

                Hey Monty
I have been meaning to say your interview on Fox25 about Junior passing away was excellent. You have a future in broadcasting.

Logan Johnston had a goal in Penticton's 3-0 win in the semifinals of the RBC Cup.

The final is being played currently and is tied at 2, in the second period.

Edit to add: Penticton is the best Junior A team in Canada, as they won tonight 4-3. Logan Johnston assisted on the game winning goal.

                    • Re: UML Recruiting, Building for the future

Lowell has picked up a new commitment for 12/13, Alec White, a 6'2" forward from the Michigan Warriors (NAHL). Thanks to boblav1 for finding this for me. The site has been updated to add him.

So, with his addition, and the departure of Conderman (and speculating the departures of Boulanger and Mihailovich, here's where the UML roster stands as of today for next season, based on the assumption that all the players that could come in either 2012 or 2013 will come in 2013:

                      Defense (10):
                      Senior: Malcolm Lyles
Juniors: Daniel Furlong, Joe Houk (RS), Chad Ruhwedel
Sophomores: William Eiserman, Zach Kamrass, Jake Suter
Freshmen: Greg Amlong, Christian Folin, Dmitri Sinitsyn (RS)

                      Forwards (18):
                      Seniors: Riley Wetmore, Colin Wright
Juniors: Derek Arnold, Josh Holmstrom, Derek McCoy, Joe Pendanza, Shayne Thompson
Sophomores: Tyler Brickler, Stephen Buco, Terrence Wallin, Scott Wilson
Freshmen: Adam Chapie, Mike Colantone, Michael Fallon, Logan Johston, Ryan McGrath, Dylan Shapiro, Alec White

                      Goalies (3):
                      Juniors: Doug Carr
                      Sophomores: Brian Robbins
                      Freshman: Connor Hellebuyck

So at this point, that leaves us at 31 on the roster. That's still a large number.

Assuming no one leaves, the class breakdown for 2012 then would be:
                      Seniors: 3
                      Juniors: 9
                      Sophomores: 8
                      Freshmen: 11

Have also heard Brickler will be transferring to a D-3 school next year as well. That cuts the roster to 30 which would still be the largest number in Hockey East.

Final stats for UML recruits for their respective 2011/2012 seasons. One thing that's definitely noticeable, other than McGrath, every player is 6' or taller. Think that was something that Coach Bazin definitely wanted to change.

I'm listing Scammon and Stenglein as 2013, but they could enter school in 2012.
