Fans might want to make their way to the Sanford Center next Wednesday for select-a-seat night, even if you already have your seats picked out. In conjunction with the S-A-S night, BSU will hold a surplus sale, including:

New and used equipment will be for sale at a price to move. The BSU Foundation will also have a large selection of memorabilia for sale, including framed photos, team pictures, framed articles, Beaver hockey signs, etc.

Hockey equipment to include:
Senior and intermediate one-piece sticks, blades, shafts, goalie sticks, new and used protective gear (helmets, cages, shoulder pads, elbow pads, pants, gloves). New and used goalie equipment: chest protector, blockers, catchers. Used skate ovens, SlideBoards, hockey skates, and other misc. equipment.

No early sales. Items sold as is, where is and with all faults. All sales final. No warranties or returns. Purchases must be immediately removed from the premises.

The event is 5-8 pm June 1st.

Former Beaver Matt Francis has signed with the Nottingham Panthers of the British ELITE League. He joins former Beavers Brendon Cook and Cody Bostock who played last year with the Braehead Clan of the ELITE League, and Cook also played with Nottingham in the 08-09 season.

Looks like former Beaver Andrew Murray will be testing the free agent market this year.

He seemed to be a favorite of Ken Hitchcock when he was coach in Columbus, but this year, injuries and a new coach seemed to limit his playing time.

I had the pleasure of attending the BSU v UMTC series last season in Bemidji and while rooting for the BeaVs I announced a cheer that I thought was common place at the games: Q:"How do you like your BeaVers?!" A:"Rah, Raw, Rah!"

Apparently no one had heard of that cheer before but once I wrote it down for them they understood the joke and enjoyed it which leads me to my question. Is it just the current generation or has that never been a BSU cheer?

Unfortunately, I can't make the Nagle this year......

We had planned on doing one at the Skaar, but then the Bemidji HS baseball team went and made the state tourney. So, we will now just do one for the Nagle. Also, FYI, the "Lady Beaver" (First National Bank Women's Golf Classic) has been discontinued, and all fundraising efforts for women's athletics will now go through the BSU Walk for Women.

Dan Bakala is in the Calgary Flames Developmental Camp this summer. Just an Amateur Tryout, but still, good experience for Dan.

I agree with you jac....... We get into the WCHA, get a nice arena, and now we are possibly back to a league that would resemble the CHA, travel budget and name recognition wise.....

I blame "Big Barry" at Wisconsin. If he wouldn't have gotten all money hungry at the possible $$$$ that MAY come in from the Big Ten Television Network, the Big Ten probably wouldn't have inforced the by-law about six teams playing a sport (the Big Ten brass hadn't really been saying much). But, the TV money gets split and even the schools that don't have hockey will probably get a cut of the $$$$. What a way to make a few extra $$$$, ride the coat tails of the six schools playing the sport.

"Sure, here are six votes for you Barry, even though we don't offer the sport." signed-Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern.

Not sure how many votes Barry would have needed, but I would guess he also had Wisconsin, Penn State and Ohio State. Publically, IIRC, Minnesota, Michigan and Michigan State were for keeping things the same.
