Kyle Smith (http://easternjhl.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=3212715&seasonid=5790) was drafted by the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the 15th Round - 152nd Pick overall, excluding "passes" (http://www.ushldraft.com/index.cfm). This further supports the possibility of Smith not coming to UNH in the fall of 2011 in favor of playing a year in the USHL.

A couple of days prior to the USHL Entry Draft, the "New Jersey Hockey Blog" indicated that Brett Pesce (http://www.atlantichockey.org/player_information.php?playerid=103127&seasonid=16) would play for the Jersey Hitmen of the Eastern Junior Hockey League next season (http://jcnjhb.blogspot.com/2011/05/2011-player-movements-93s-94s-95s.html). Will be interesting to see if Pesce plays for the Omaha Lancers instead.

Hey guys, just writing to see how you guys think Borisenok will fare in his senior season. He's a local player from where I'm from hence my interest. I know UNH has a tradition of great senior seasons from their forwards, any chance that he will be that guy for you ?

This website - http://www.collegehockeysource.com/home - has a lot of useful information. Does anyone know who runs this site and who are their sources of information?

Some interesting stuff on that website. Looks like it was pretty hastily thrown together, although I will give credit to whoever put it together, as it must have taken quite some time. No way UNH's incoming class is on the same level of Minnesota's, Denver's or Miami's.

Great Info! I also would like to know the ranking methodology. For What Its Worth, North Dakota recruits Grimaldi and Miller, both in top 10 of forward rankings also show up on Woodlief's NHL talent top ten.

UNH fans may find of interest that Woodlief also gives kudos to 2012 incoming Harvard recruit/Maine native Brian Hart - a UNH near miss.

Coach Umile has announced the recruiting class for the 2011-12 season and there are a couple of surprises (http://www.unhwildcats.com/sports/mice/2010-11/releases/201106073umaxd):
Dan Correale (http://www.ajhl.ca/statistics/north_divsion_stats/grande_prairie_storm.html) will be coming one year earlier than expected.
Jay Camper (http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/playerpage.html?playerid=2389993&seasonid=5967) will try to overcome recurring difficulties with concussion symptoms.
Jamie Hill (http://www.pointstreak.com/stats/pro/playerpage.html?playerid=3213703&seasonid=5969) is not coming and there's no current information on his plans.

Otherwise, the incoming class is as expected:
Grayson Downing (http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/rosters_profile.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&playerID=478609&teamID=267275)
Casey DeSmith (http://www.pointstreak.com/stats/pro/playerpage.html?playerid=3210137&seasonid=5967)
Trevor van Riemsdyk (http://easternjhl.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=3212912&seasonid=5790)
Matt Willows (http://easternjhl.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=4178078&seasonid=5790)
Ryan Randall (http://easternjhl.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=3212796&seasonid=5790)
Eric Chevrier (http://www.northamericanscreamingeagles.com/images/chevy-gags_koo1.jpg)

Not all that surprised to see Correale come early- He'll be 20, I beleive- and had a pretty solid yr in the AJHL. Player profiles read very nicely especialy on speed and playmaking, coupel of proven goal scorers as well! Willows looks to have all the makings of a great late pick-up. Has excelled at every level- "never takes a shift off" - Gotta like that..

If Hill is still coming in '12
that makes-
Smith, Hill, Geaudreax, Thrush and Vecchione
replacing- Bori, Moses & McCarey.
Unfortunately, Hill is also not presently on the Heisenberg recruiting lists for '12.

Perhaps Jamie Hill is being held in reserve in case one of the announced (2011) recruits does not meet all the admission requirements or chooses to renege on their commitment to UNH.

Wanted to give an update on my son's friend and former teammate on his HS team, Mason Jobst. If this kid isn't on UNH's radar he should be because if this kid continues to develop, some D1 team is going to have a heck of a playmaker on their team. Jobst is a 94 playing for the Indiana Ice U18 team this season, so far his stats are 10 goals, 10 assists, 2 short handed goals in 30 games. Last week in a tournament in Foxboro MA he had a six point weekend. On Thursday he got called up to the U17 USA developmental Team and played last night against the Indiana Ice. In a 6-2 loss he had a goal, PP assist, 4 SOG, was +1. Not bad for a 16 y/o against 19 and 20 y/o kids. Last Summer he was the top scorer in the U16 USA hockey Select Festival, here is his scouting report for that:

Mason Jobst (#10 Royal Blue Team) 5-7/145 -- 2G-9A-11 - Had a tremendous week. Outworked virtually everybody. Totally unafraid. Small kid who played big. Left nothing on the ice. All the clichés apply. And if we were picking an all-star team just based purely on play here, he'd be on it. Played Indiana high school hockey last year (Zionsville HS). This is a classic example of a kid making the most of an opportunity, and it's no surprise that his team made the playoff game. We'd never heard of this player before the festival; now we will never forget him. He has a choppy stride, which may work against him at higher levels. We're not betting against him, though. To much heart and desire.

Again I hope he comes up on UNH's radar, pure playmaker that can score and at 5-7 145 is not afraid to wallop someone 6-2 210.

Yes my son roots for UNH, I grew up in Durham its genetic. I know Mason's father has asked about UNH but as far as I know they haven't been contacted. So far I think they have heard from 4-5 teams from Hockey East, CCHA, ECAC and Atlantic Hockey.

Update on 17-year-old Mason Jobst: He has made the active roster of the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL (http://www.mlive.com/lumberjacks/index.ssf/2011/06/muskegon_lumberjacks_active_ro.html). So far, he has not made a college commitment.

2012 Recruit Casey Thrush (http://ushl.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=4254705&seasonid=5967) is on the Lumberjacks' roster for the second year (no surprise).

2013 Recruit Michael McNicholas (http://www.pointstreak.com/players/playerpage.html?playerid=4151152&seasonid=6812) is on the Lumberjacks' protected, Futures List.

Looks like 2013 Recruit, Brett Pesce (http://www.atlantichockey.org/player_information.php?playerid=103127&seasonid=16) will be playing for the Jersey Hitmen of the Eastern Junior Hockey League next season. The Scouting News has an interview with the coach of the Hitmen discussing Pesce's future prospects for being an NHL draftee (http://www.thescoutingnews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=1&Itemid=77).

In addition, Pesce was not on the roster for the Omaha Lancers Tryout Camp (http://www.lincolnstarsblog.com/). He had been drafted by the Lancers of the USHL last month.

FYI, you have the wrong link. That goes to a Lincoln Stars blog....not an Omaha Lancers blog.

Oops - Sorry for the confusion. The Omaha Lancers held their Tryout Camp from June 3-5. I haven't yet located a list of players who participated. Any help?

In any event, two sources have Brett Pesce playing for the Jersey Hitmen in the 2011-12 season. One is John Covello's New Jersey Hockey Blog (http://jcnjhb.blogspot.com/2011/05/2011-player-movements-93s-94s-95s.html). The other is an interview with Toby Harris, the Hitmen's Head Coach, in The Scouting News (http://www.thescoutingnews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=43349:Toby Harris&catid=49:latest-news&Itemid=54).
