This is sad day for college hockey and an especially for the Minnesota schools left behind. I was hoping that political pressure from the smaller schools and communities might cause Minnesota to waiver.
Can't really see that happening as this move really does benefit the Hockey East at the unfortunate expense of the remnants of the WCHA.

Well since you're a fan of one of the remaining CCHA teams, do you think LSSU, NMU, WMU, FSU, BGSU can survive without the B1G school?

I suspect that the B10 as a group will have much more leverage with the big wigs in Bristol then any other college hockey entity, that alone might be enough to get one minute of coverage (combined) on game nights after football season.
I pull research on this board constantly sir. But not for those who are entrenched in cynicism. Like I said the projections are out there...go find it yourself.

Minnesota did waiver...but they can't stop the B1GHC by themselves...they needed at least 2 of the other 6 to be with them...

Depends on what, if any impact this will have on Atlantic Hockey, with regards to any realignment of the western NY and PA teams. It may also have some impact on recruiting. Overall, I suspect that it would be minor.

That would require Maturi to actually have a spine (and maybe a brain, who knows). $20M+ a year can over-rule many a political concern.

For a time yes...and time is the most important thing at the moment. If Miami and Notre Dame stay...the CCHA would function and survive fine I believe.

Only if Miami and Notre Dame stay and become the "flagship" CCHA teams.

Gas prices are on the increase again, and most of these state schools (LSSU, BGSU, FSU, NMU) are using budget's that were set in place back in 2002 or 2003 and have not been able to adjust accordingly. Cutting the trip to UNO was a godsend to them. Staying in the CCHA also means that UAf pays for the (remaining) league teams to go to Alaska. The remaining seven teams get two extra "free" home non-conference games to schedule if they go to UAf on UAf's dime.

As I've stated before, the non B10 teams only host either Michigan or MSU once a season. Do people buy season tickets solely for that one weekend? I don't think so. From the WMU perspective, we're a pretty close fit geographically for M/MSU to play their token road game of the season.

I have to think the revenue for those schools is minimal from OSU MICH MSU ---in the big picture.. do CCHA teams make any money from FSD? or the Joe? ticket revenue with clusters is maybe $20,000.... if programs can't absorb the loss of those 3 schools, then those programs have themselves to blame

Wait till they all apply for jobs with the Big10.

I know Hall also doubles as an AHL linesman. So you're not completely rid of him.

That is assuming UAF is still willing to pay for those teams to come up. You know with Michigan and Michigan State out of the picture they're gonna want to rethink those terms right?

Once these teams announce they are moving up, the TV revenue ball will really start rolling. I expect announcements by the end of this year.
