I agree. However, did we ever hear who else was recruiting Higgs (after he de-committed from Canisius)? I still (especially after hearing reports from the scrimmage) am not nearly as high on him as other people here seem to be. While I think he can certainly be a good contributor on a checking line, I personally don't seeing him having much more offensive upside than, for example, Malchuk or Kurt Colling.

I don't think that we ever heard who else was recruiting him.

Chris Heisenberg rated him pretty highly last year.

Higgs had something like 18 pts. 17 playoff games this spring for a talented Kingston team...and led the Vees with 39 playoff pts. in 25 games en route to the league title the year before.

In his two years in the OPJHL he was good for better than 1 pt. per game:Games 97 50G 64A 114 pts.

Also, Higgs is a '92, a true freshman. The other freshman forwards are all older.

Hey I'm all about providing bulletin board material. Those playoff runs certainly do indicate that he is a crunch-time producer, which is something that you can never have a surplus of.

I'm not into making predictions, I just thought I'd refresh all of our memories. :p The kid doesn't have a grinder resume. He played in the World Jr. A Challenge as well. Time will tell as to his role at RPI.

Appert: "...Hes a very good hockey player, Appert says, and hes one of those guys who scores goals in big games. Hes a good skater who plays with a bite.

I think that getting Haggerty may be more significant than getting JD'A. Anyone get get lucky once and get an USNTDP recruit (even Union had one), but two shows a trend.

Agreed. Getting another player of that caliber is huge.

FYI: the last game of the B.R.O.'s suspension has been lifted; therefore he'll begin playing this Friday.

Great news Babo. Great news Babo. Great news Babo. :D :D Looking forward to following the B.R.O on the ice this year!

Article about Matt Neal commiting to RPI http://www.yorkregion.com/sports/local/article/881693?loc=interstitialskip

Neal pretty much denounced Cornell when he mentioned: " A lot of time in the NCAA you see teams play trap hockey which takes the creativity out of the game and RPI doesn’t do that.” I like the kid already. Considering his Stouffville coach is a Cornell alum, I'd say we did alright. :D :D

Anytime we can stiff arm Union, its an added bonus...:p

USA Hockey's articles about the two U18 games in Colorado. Nothing about Haggerty.

I guess you missed the part where the kid picked us over Cornell.

Non sequitur. I was referring to your comment on "stiff arming Union."

Were there any possible recruits spotted at the UNB game?

A PDF of bios for the Team Canada East (WJAC) tryout camp http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/68000/la_id/1.htm#. It included Matt Neal and targets Tyson and Tylor Spink. The camp ended yesterday, but I don't think that the roster has been selected yet.

Hopefully, Neal had a few friendly conversations with the twins...:D

They were on opposing squads, but I suspect that they did.

Some photos from the camp http://www.tbsgphotography.com/team-canada-east.php. Without numbers on the sleeves, it's hard to identify many of the players, although the players are wearing their regular helmets. :)

Here are the rosters. Neal in 15 in red. The twins are 14 and 15 in white.

I did not see any. But with the names and address to come later (old Atlanta Braves on TBS joke) size of the crowd last night, it shouldnt have been hard to figure out if any recruits were at the Field House. Like I have said before, I am horrible at deciding who is a possible recruit and who isnt.
