Re: RPI 2010 Offseason VI: The NHL's CBA Doesn't Appear to Have Been a Boon for the Tute.
Offensively-No question Polacek is important as he was last year. Truthfully I feel we lost more goal scoring with the graduation of Kerins that by losing either D'Amigo or Pirri. Obviously I would have loved to have them-but they scored 21 goals total last year and I am relatively secure in thinking the new group of players can get close to that total. And remember-Helfrich was not really in the scoring mix last year and I expect more from him this year.
I agree totally with you about the defense-as I mentioned, that will be the key. We have an excellent goaltender who if given the chance to see the shots, can stop virtually anything. I am a little hesitant(but very hopeful) about the defense which is why I felt this team was good enough to be top 5 in the league and perhaps a little better. With all the youngsters coming in. it will be a year where the level of coaching will be important and we will find out whether coach SA is just a good recruiter(which we already know) but also a good tactical coach.
