Palmer was the only 4 year senior starter on the team. Brandon Smith made the transition from D to Forward, so he sat his first two full seasons. Played half a year his junior year, and was still sat out time last year. He was a 4th liner who had no idea how to handle the puck and couldn't hit a pass. I don't think anyone is considering that a loss. But yeah Wingels leaving early does hurt some, but that only takes away 2 players from the lineup, the entire D core is back, and both Knapp and Reich.

No BU? Again, Yale losing Backman and Arcobello but manages to do so well? I'd also like to hear your reasoning behind RPI. D'Amigo and Polacek are both key but besides them I can't see that much of an impact.

I'm guessing that one reason has to do with our performance against last year's tournament teams (4-1-2). Add to that that aside from Paul Kerins who graduated (who really came out of his shell last year), all of the big names (Polacek, D'Amigo, Pirri, York (ask Michigan who he is ) ) are coming back, and some pretty good freshman and transfer defensemen, not to mention a few key players here and there.

BU's borderline top 16, but I don't see how someone can have UVM that high without also having BU up there. I don't see UVM being ranked that high or finishing that high.

As for RPI and Yale, I'd have both of them in the top 16, too. As Flag pointed out, RPI returns a lot, and you'd be remiss not to include Pirri in that "impact" group with Polacek and D'Amigo. Yale loses some key players, but they also return the likes of Little, O'Neill, Kearney and Miller.

Perhaps the model involves a general mean of how the pollsters feel about the teams in general, and although the numbers would typically be ordered and truncated to a cardinal system (and no I'm not trying to get SUNY Plattsburgh involved), this particular model does not utilize such truncation and ordering.

Hey, I gotta put this degree to good use.
