I am just curious as to what people think about fighting and if it should be allowed in college? I know this is hard with the full face mask rule and everything just curious as to how you all feel.

if your team has no talent, they might as well get in a fight.

The reason for the talent in the west? Because MN didn't rely on Canada.

And if your team is full of really talented pansies with no heart, you should pass a rule that makes fighting in hockey punishable by death.

The only way the NCAA would allow it is if instead of fist fighting it were wrestling.

that would really screw up a team that has never won a championship.

I think that it should be allowed as well. It is great in the pros to change the momentum when your team is down, it gives the fans something to cheer about. I remember last year how one of MSU's smallest defensemen got into just a yelling match with a Michigan guy and the whole place went nuts. It just seems that it is about time to let them go at it.

You just made an argument for no fighting with the first statement. If yelling is all it takes then why do they need fighting?

it's a great way to teach amateurs about sportsmanship, too. and, the ccha could have a boxing match to end a tie game, it would be a lot more exciting than a shootout.

Er... this is almost too easy. But, as I've already stepped up to the plate, might as well hit.

You could take out "really talented" from that sentence and you'd have St, Cloooud.

Honestly, the fact they aren't allowed to fight is one of the reasons I'd rather watch a NCAA game than an NHL game.

                        Re: Fighting in college Hockey

I'm fine with no fighting in college hockey. Prefer it actually. Fights seem so pointless for the most part. I can kinda see it if a player is standing up against a cheap-shot or something, but other than that, it just comes across as goonery or poor sportsmanship. I certainly don't like seeing my team start a fight, which is a significant part of why I'm probably not going to be supporting my local Jr. A team next season.

I go to hockey games to watch hockey. If I wanted to watch a fight, I'd go to a boxing match or something. College hockey is my favorite level of the game partially because there's no fights.

I'd like to see it, but the NCAA will never let it happen. They're not gonna allow fighting in hockey while still having it be punishable by ejections and suspensions in every other sport.

I personally love the fighting aspect of the game. Especially in the pros.

Not sure if there's a place for it in college hockey. I'd almost prefer it without fighting.

Fighting sucks. It takes away from the momentum of the game, deemphasizes skill, is very dangerous, and is certainly not in the spirit of good sportsmanship. I recognize its role in on-ice enforcement, but it has no place as a source of entertainment.
