With rumors that U of Nebraska will soon be a member of the Big Ten, I was wondering what the chances might be they would add D-I hockey? I know they have a club team. Will Nebraska have a second D-I program?

Re: University of Nebraska
I'd say not likely - they are building a new basketball arena, without ice making capabilities:
The arena won't be built to accommodate an ice surface, so seats can be closer to the basketball playing floor, Osborne said.Current NCAA D-I rinks I've been to:
AHA:
B1G: UMich, MSU, UMinn, Notre Dame, OSU, UWisc
CCHA: BSU, BG, FSU, LSSU, MSU, MTU, NMU
ECAC:
HEA: UMass
NCHC: Miami, UMD, UND, SCSU, WMU
Independant: ASU
Inactive: UAH, ASU, BSU, UMD, UND, NMU, Notre Dame

Re: University of Nebraska
I'd say the chances are approaching zero that UNL would even consider hockey. And the proximity to UNO's program, IMHO, makes is less not more likely that there will be D-I hockey in Lincoln. UNOfan can probably explain it better than me.2011 Poser of the Year & Pulitzer Prize winning machine gunner.

Looks like Michigan & Nebraska could be a good rivalry right out of the blocks .

Re: University of Nebraska
Somehow I just dont see Nebraska as ever being much of a hockey school. Especially considering how much of a football school they are and how hockey would have to compete with the football program for money, fans and attention for much of the season.A Badger living in Buckeye country.
