Hopefully they will raise her salary and benefit package-how can anyone subsist on the meager amount she is being paid?

I don't like some of the proposed changes - especially no-icing on PK - but some of the changes might enhance the game. Just because they change a rule, doesn't mean they can't change it back in a year or two if it doesn't have the intended outcome. The game will be fine.
I don't want to see fights every 5 min.but a little dose of FIST respect once and awhile isn't a bad thing....In fact I believe that would go a longer way to eliminating hitting from behind and other dangerous physical contact than any rule USA hockey can come up with !.... Just like removing the cages would curtail high sticking to the head ! Hockey is and should remain a game of respect whether it be speed, skill or a god old fashioned a_s kicking that earns that respect its all the same...JMO

The T-birds were coached by Joe Coombs, now an AC with Monty's Saints.

Should be fun to see if he can fight his way into a roster spot. I say give him two seasons with Monty (and the squat rack), then bring him to Troy as a fire breathin', crease hoggin', goalie screenin', weapon !

Changing the subject a little bit but keep your fingers crossed. I think this is gonna be Oates year to get in the Hall. We will know on Tuesday.

I certainly hope that you are correct, but he doesn't seem to be getting much press this year.

We have a fundamental disagreement over this issue; and that's okay. Allowing fights during games would make the games longer and increase injuries. Allowing players to fight might reduce illegal and cheap hits, but it would not eliminate them. More rules will not eliminate those dangerous hits either; but tighter and more equitable and consistent enforcement would likely reduce them.

I'm glad that there will be some scientific study of the cage vs. shield issue so that we may get a final resolution to this debate. I don't think it is a given that getting rid of the cages will reduce sticks to the head. I think Jack Parker's contention that the full shields and cages reduce visibility is a more compelling argument for going to half shields if the research confirms his assertion.

The other major team sports (football, LAX, baseball, basketball, soccer) don't allow fighting and they seem to be doing fine. Restrict fighting to the ring and play hockey on the ice.

The fact that his goals scored total is only 341 (as compared to others who are up over 400) works against him. This year is not a bumper crop and he has his best chance but I suppose the voters are not as impressed by assists for a forward as they are goals. With defensemen it is probably a different story. Here's hoping we get our first RPI alumnus in.

Agree with thoughts re: fighting. I do believe that the full shields not only impede vision but they allow players to be far more "brave" with their sticks than they would be if their own grills were exposed to the elements, if you know what I mean. That said, there is no way around the obvious protection a full shield offers when it comes to pucks to the face.

College players should be required to wear full face shields has they do now.
Lets remember that for the most part, these kids are going to go into something other than professional hockey.
They should not have to worry about a stick or puck in the face.
Anyone see Briere's face after he took a stick with the half sheild on? He gets paid for that. When they start paying college players, than they can take chances with their futures.
As for fighting, there is no place for it in college hockey. JMO
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

It looks like he is one of the favorites for induction this year, at least according to this:

This will all depend on how many candidates the committee is willing to accept. If it's only 2-then there is no chance. If it's 3 then it's possible. If it's 4 then it would be a miscarriage if Oates is not selected.
