HAHA. Well we've been saying it for quite some time. Time to redo those anyway...include the holiday tourney win @ Uconn. Update basketball and get rid of the ECAC participant banner, maybe just include one for every time we reach the final four in the conference.

Congrats to Brandon Wong signing with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings!
Impressive article on him to go with that.
My apologies for saying Brandon Wong was an overrated player all year because he clearly was not!

He was only overrated because everyone kept comparing him to his freshman year. The fact of the matter is that he's been one of our best offensive weapons this year, but he's done it quietly.
I have two distinct memories of Wonger. First was his performance last season against Colgate in the playoffs. He single-handedly sent us to the quarterfinals at SLU. As a matter of fact, this past weekend in Albany most of the SLU fans mentioned him as one of the QU thorns in their side. Second was his game-tying and game-winning goals against UMass earlier this season.
Try to imagine the last 3 years of Quinnipiac hockey without Brandon... we were much better off having him on our side.
Best of luck to him as he embarks on his pro career!

I remember after Wongers freshman year there were whispers from reliable people that he would leave QU to go pro if not then, but after his sophomore year. Good thing that didn't happen.
since im only about 45 minutes away from milwaukee, i might be heading to watch wonger play tonight(if he is in the lineup). let you guys know how he does!

Awesome. He's listed on the roster as #21. Here's to hoping he gets some playing time!

i don't know if its too early but do we know if anyone is leaving the team, transferring, etc?
I've heard an unconfirmed report that Scott Zurevinsky may be leaving the program early. According to this source, Zurvy has been getting a lot of attention from scouts and either this year or next could be leaving early. I truly hope this is merely heresay and holds no truth because we'd be in a world of hurt without him.
If one would speculate on common trends in the program it wouldn't surprise me to see one of the lesser used Freshman depart for a better opportunity or even a player like Coughlin who is seldom used may take off. It would also not surprise me to see either Hartzell or Cadieux leave the program as well. Clarkie seemed to solidify his position in goal and that leaves the ever present but seldom seen Pat McGann along with both of the Froshies. That's a lot of netminders.
Regardless, I believe we're only bringing in about 4 Freshman so the that should leave plenty of playing time for returnees.
Here's to hoping the Zurvy rumor isn't true & Cornell represents the league well.

And while we're at it, dump the NEC Playoff Participation banners in the basketball arena too.
QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS MAAC Regular Season Champions: 1999, 2000
MAAC Tournament Champions: 2002
Atlantic Hockey Regular Season Champions: 2005
ECAC Hockey Final Four: 2007
Reid Cashman was selected to the ECAC all decade second team. Now if he could only crack the NHL . Either way with the talent in the league it's a nice accomplishment.
