Jacob Cepis - he of Bowling Green transfer - was the best player for the Gophers in the UND series. Put a team of JC in maroon and gold and you have a gritty team that will overachieve. How long will Bjustad wear the M? Two years at the most? Is the younger Lucia (the one still in high school) gopher material?

Mentioned this in the season thread, but a person I know swears that the Curse Of The Seawolf ends before next season.

Alright, best quote ever for all you Gopher fans. So after the Sunday game, probably Lucia's last game with the Gophers, he walks over to shake Hakstol's hand. He looks at him and says, "Just so you know, #26 called me a fag twice." And thats all he said. Ha! That is so funny.

Wow. With his pretty-boy long, delicate hair, and overly flamboyant attitude, Hextall should be the last person to throw the F-word around.

he's gone...didn't take too much time. NCAA/NHL needs to address the leaving early problem. I'm not too sure what the other sports are like for people leaving early, but hockey is one that a lot of people can be really good at a young age and compete at the top level earlier.

Hopefully your off season will be eventful...in a good way.

There isn't much that can or should be done about players leaving early. If the NCAA passes a rule that says they can't leave college early, the top kids will all go to major junior in the first place (and not college hockey), so as not to be 'trapped' in college when they feel they are ready for pro hockey. Who is the big loser there? College hockey.

If the NHL were to pass a rule that players must be of a certain age to enter the league, you would probably see a restraint of trade lawsuit. In a free country, it's hard to tell an adult he can't pursue his chosen career.

Either way, colleges will still recruit top kids, even if they leave early. You get 1 or 2 or 3 years out of them, and you also recruit your guys who will likely need four years at the college level to complement your high end players.

Agreed.

What I would like to see, is to get something in order with the NHL for the mid season stuff. Even then if a player really wanted to sign, they could go the Major Junior route and sign a contract from there. Note: I don't think they could or should stop somebody from going major junior if they want. At some point the player just doesn't want to be there anymore, and I don't think they should be forced to stay. An NHL team pursuing and signing a player is a different story though.
