A buckeye is not edible, at least I don't think!

Buckeyes are edible. Not that you'd want to snack on them, but they can be eaten if prepared. And badgers eat them. Wikipedia says so.

Syracuse and Ohio State do. There must be others.

Delta State Fighting Okra, and the Scottsdale Community College Fighting Artichoke. Stay the **** out of the way of these bad boys.

Bucky the Beaver from Bemidji State. Famous for crowd-surfing during hockey games and asking students for a dip.

Bananas? Really?

A real bear cub wandered onto the football field in the 1920's. The crowd went "Bananas" for it.

Are there any other "unofficial" mascots in college hockey?

I suppose the PC Police could be to blame for the loss of our beloved Maroon Loon:

tUMD's official "Champ" (formerly known as "Killer" until the PC Police got that too):

I thought the Loon just left? Couldn't do it anymore?

I wish Champ would lift his leg and pee on people like he used too :(

If this video is him running back to make the game, why in the world does he run by the Conte entrance and up those god awful stairs?

It is supposed to be like in Rocky when he climbs up all the stairs and gets to the top, though I agree it doesn't make sense to pass Conte. There are stairs in Conte he could have went up, but I guess that wouldn't have been as cool.

**** PC COPS!!!! The Loon was the BEST!!! Loved seeing mim last year for an encore. And Champ doesnt instill fear like KILLER did. I blame it on the "pussification of america" (rest in peace George Carlin)

As I recall, at least one of the orginal Late 80s Loons was a guy named Brian Haedrick (sp?) who managed a Duluth Bowling Alley back then. I loved it when he skated on some homemade stilts....That was badazzz...

He has a crush on me I'm pretty sure.

At least he isn't hostile and abusive.

how can a logo (not a mascot) embedded in the ice and other fixtures and surfaces at the arena be hostile and abusive? It's certainly better than the sad excuse for a mascot that is yours.

You guys are getting smarter. Last season when Air Force and RIT shared, the only Falcon allowed to touch the regular-season trophy was the trainer.

I assume because a Nazi put them there, but that would be just a guess.
