Us Mainuhs dont believe in it.....let the players do the talking on the ice and Gustav Nyquist is walking away with the national scoring title playing in a real league. He's a Hobey slam dunk at this point imo. He's also a great defensive player very important to his team.
His to lose right now as far as I'm concerned.

The last goal tender to win it was Ryan Miller in 01. So Chevy's got a chance--I think Rhett will be sitting at center ice next to Marc when the hardware is awarded.

Is there a Hobey Baker award for Division-III? I've never heard of any of these people nor their schools.

Ryan Miller? Never heard of him. I assume he hasn't done anything since winning the Hobey?

I think he's related to that Brian Miller guy from the Olympics.

Nah he was involved in something last weekend, he got his CCHA records broken by Reichard.

What Record of Miller's Got broken? Career Saves percentage (.941) or Career Shutouts (26)?

or was it one of these CCHA records?

CCHA GAA of 1.23. I guess tied the Sv% of .950.

                    Three reasons not (yet):

He's a sophomore (so not a captain, but not really his fault).
Not in top 10 in goals; his ppg is huge, and he's a beast with the puck, but the leaders in goal scoring will get more headlines.
Not just UNH bias (okay a little bias) but Bobby's contributions off the ice are hard to beat, along with his goal scoring; 2nd in the country, with fewer games played than the other leaders (in a league with better goaltending? haven't checked stats).

IF the Swede stays all four years and plays at this level, he'll be a lock for Hoeby his Senior year. Probably even next year.
I haven't been on here in a year...
Now I'm a dad. Holy crap.

Not Impossible.... Ducan won it in his Sophomore year

"It is uncommon for a collegiate player in only his sophomore season to be nominated to receive the Hobey Baker Award, and rarer still to claim the prize. North Dakota forward Ryan Duncan became only the third sophomore player in the 27 years of the Hobey to be recognized as college hockey’s top player."

Than again this was Ducan's Stats that year- "scored 31 goals, second best in the nation, and had 26 assists for 57 points planting him fourth in the nation in scoring."

Also got another little thing, After reading about this kid it says he made the WCHA all-academic team with a 3.20, which is solid for a student athlete, but that doesn't even make the dean's list at most schools! Is this the typical GPA for All-Academic?

I would say that it depends on what his major is.

I guess I am just thinking if a 3.2 is all academic in the WCHA then wow, I would at least think it would be 3.5 or around there!

Duncan was a business major, so a 3.2 is nothing extraordinary.

Nyquist's GPA is ridiculously high also....3.85 ?? Show me a better college hawkey player in the country right now. It truly is his to lose.
