My two favorite chants toward the refs are still pretty clean.

          1. Hey Ref , are you the " BUS DRIVER "

          2. Nuts and bolts , nuts and bolts , we got " SCREWED. "

Re: Student section and profanity in your school's arena

Ferris State used to be known to have one of the worst (Best) Student sections in the CCHA behind Yost (Michigan) until the last three years. Ferris State became real bad.

Since then, students started wearing ski masks, sat down during a complete period in sign of protest, and all in all, the worst one out there - stop going to the game.

The Ferris State Athletic Department is not the bandits, it's the rink manager who kicks the students out and enforces the law. Student's have to be two feet away from the glass, no banging on the glass, no swearing, no nothing.

So, if I were any administrators and they were reading these - I would not crack down on students. They are in college life, what do you expect from a college atmosphere? The rosemary? In Big Rapids, there is a bigger student base than there is a community base. Why crack down on students for a community who doesn't even go to the games?

As a parent of an Army player, I can’t believe the poor sportsmanship shown by the crowd at introduction of the Army team. I have never heard a crowd tell the other team “you suck” at the beginning of a game. What makes it even more unbelievable is that it is military appreciation night. What’s wrong with your fans?
It was business as usual at the Field House, though the argument isn't completely unfounded (especially given the frequency at which RPI fans announce that the opposing players suck).

Do I need to make another editorial to the Poly? This is something we do normally. Outside of HFH, yes they are our military. Inside when playing hockey, they're a D-I school.

It's been done once. I show no shame in doing it again.

Re: Student section and profanity in your school's arena

I got yelled at by an old lady fan at Conte last year. Me and DeVita were talking too loud.

After we recovered from our shock, we resumed talking in outdoor voices.

They took our pole this weekend, but not last year. They let us keep the flag, though.

I fully approve singing it when a player gets kicked out, but its completely out of line to sing it while a player is limping to the locker room.
You would disapprove of the 'Shoot em like a horse' cheer then I suppose.

Re: Student section and profanity in your school's arena

They have been trying to cut down the swearing at MSU (East Lansing). The band will start playing right at the "c-ya b****", or a song will be played on the arena's speakers. The band also stopped playing certain songs that the student section would swear during, for instance the "hockey cheer". And the band now will applaud the refs to try and counteract the "boos" and "you guys suck" from the student section when they skate onto the ice.

As a result, the student section has added swearing to the other, formerly 'clean' cheers, they do 'hockey cheer' without the band, and they add "*******...those...Wolverines" to the end of one cheer instead of saying it at the begining (since the band stopped playing the intro).

Last year we solved the problem of the Kohl Center's sign size restrictions (ignore the arrow).
