  • Nescac Predictions

    1. Middlebury- Hungry, very fast, great recruiting, goaltending must deliver

    2. Amherst- Also a strong recruiting class-still great goaltending, speed upfront

    3. Trinity- Player's Coach, lots of talent, they have good depth, fast

4.Williams- weak coach but solid D corp, need some goals, need more speed

    6. Conn- great Goaltending, average speed need to find some goals

6.Bowdoin- non players coach, some stiffs with no speed, suspect goaltending.

7.Hamilton-Players Coach, need some goaltending, average speed, depth

8Colby- still rebuilding, recruiting class weak, depth,

9 Wesleyan- great transfer, still need depth especially at the blue line

    10. Tufts- getting better, but don't seem committed to competing

    Sounds a little harsh...

I cann't see how you can make these predictions when your top 2 teams lost very importants pieces to there success last year. Judging how Junior A or Prep School players will do at college level is anyone's guess. Maybe after Middlebury plays in the Primelink and the Amherst/Norwich game in early December the quility of the teams will stand out.

The NESCAC will be tighter than last year...even if MIdd/Amherst remain at the same level. Williams, Hamilton, Trinity, Bowdoin could all step up. One would have to think that at least one or two of these teams will gel and make it a multiple team race. Frankly I think Midd overrated, so many recruits and Svobda/Kretchmer leaving team...HUGE question marks.
Amherst lost the player of the year last year on D, but with a Dl transfer and a vet coming back from injury along with Hawkrigg from the OP on D they might be more balanced and deeper on D. That said, all about chemistry and health for all of the teams. I have a feeling Williams will be in the mix...will be fun to watch unfold.

Good rankings, my thoughts are very similar.

          1. Midd = Tradition and Coaching will prevail

          2. Amherst = 1 Great goalie is better than none. Break out year for Soph Fwds

          3. Trinity = Good Goalies and Great team depth and work ethic

          4. Bowdoin = Great Coach and Great Facility overcomes poor goalies

          5. Williams = Great mix of players, solid goalie and Midd as travel partner helps a lot

          6. Hamilton = New Coach has big year

          7. Conn College = Good Goalies only get you so far

          8. Tufts = Good mix of players will be competitive

          9. Wesleyan = Great top line no depth or goaltending will cost them

          10. Colby = Good Coach but bad team does not work this year.

I see Trinity - Williams - Conn - Hamilton & Bowdoin as very equal teams I think places 3-7 are wide open

The great thing about sports is that the games still have to be played.
