As a proof that early Pairwise Rankings are of not much use, USCHO has put our PWR live for 2009-10 about 60 days earlier than usual.

As further proof, Jayson Moy has posted his first Bracketology blog post:
    http://www.uscho.com/blogs/bracketol...cketology.html

One note -- because of the lack of number of games, the calculation for removing teams from your RPI that would hurt it is turned off until there are more games, because for one team, it removed every game.

    Enjoy the meaninglessness!

The last thing I want to have USCHO become is ESPN. This feels like if a football player has one good game in college they talk about how its effecting his draft status.

Way too early. Talk to me in January.

I think it's fun to look at it now and see how it changes in late March...

This is more silly than the "voters" putting a 2-5 BU squad at #17 overall.

It means absolutely nothing obviously, but they still do the closest regional for the top teams correct? That'd mean it should be....

            West Regional (St. Paul)

            1. Bemidji State vs. 16 Air Force

8 Cornell vs. 9 Western Michigan

Midwest Regional (Ft. Wayne) -- Not Albany
            2 Miami vs. 15 Minn.-Duluth

7 Alaska vs. 10 Boston College

East Regional (Albany) -- Not Worcestor
3 Michigan State vs. 13 Denver

6 Massachusetts vs. 11 Colorado College

Northeast Regional (Worcester) -- Not Fort Wayne
            4 North Dakota vs. 14 Mass.-Lowell

5 Quinnipiac vs. 12 Notre Dame

So for the folks over at Western Michigan should they save and frame this since it might be the only time they are in the top 10 of the PWR???

My mistake, it was always said that the "CCHA" was the host, not a specific school, they must have changed that original stance.

I understand what you're all trying to do here, but this is pretty foolish to do this right now.

Polls provide enough cannon fodder for debate, and jumping into this stuff right now when a handful of the teams just started playing is wholeheartedly dumb.

Moy et. al. If you want to make things interesting get a Comp Sci professional to produce the model I've been using (nearly identical to Robin Lock's CHODR model) and apply it to the remaining games. I've clearly show that I suck at the little programming details and i don't know how to program tie-breakers. Seeing something like this:

                              http://www.baseballprospectus.com/st...cs/ps_odds.php

but a little more so would be way more interesting than the way too early PWR... I just suck at programming. I'd be disappointed that I couldn't get it done, but I'd love to see the results.

edit: if we make it to a worcester regional I'd do cartwheels... two weekends at the hotel of Mom and Dad would be nice (if we make the Fleet I'm going to get a Boston area hotel.)
